In the year 1878, nearly two decades after her mother’s fall – Alice was told of her mother’s infamous tale. Little Alice sat it awe at her mother’s story and how her mother fell into a rabbit hole and into a fantasy Wonderland. Alice then described an entire world where things were opposites of logic, how possibilities were endless, how there were battles and freedoms and peacemakers across the lands. Alice described how she could feel anything, euphoric, frustration, confusion, sadness, and even love. Alice gave her daughter a chain with a long key attached to it. Little Alice was told that if she were to ever need it, that she would know what to do with it. Characters described were vibrant, full of life, and unlike any imaginary tale. Little Alice believed in her heart it was true – but with years of age and growing up, her dreams were slowly crushed by mocks and lies.
As she reached the age of eighteen, Little Alice grew into a beautiful woman. No man could keep their eyes off her, and every woman was jealous of her pure kindness and generosity. No longer believing in the tales her mother once pushed on her, she was the diamond in London. Not too much time went by before she was proposed to by a timid, rich young man. Accepting the offer, she was enthusiastic about her future.
Alice was happy for her daughter while also gravely disappointed, but helped her as much as she could through personal connections and costs towards the wedding. Seeing the opportunity to be close to Little Alice once more, Alice tried pushing the tall tales on Little Alice once more. Denying the stories and furious at her mother’s attempts, Little Alice ran off as far – so long as it was away from her mother.
Finding herself in a forest nearby home, she slowed into a stroll and soaked in the beauty surrounding her. She looked at the flowers swaying melodically in the wind, the leaves falling from the trees around, and the soft earth beneath her feet. Losing track of time, it soon became dark – and Little Alice was afraid. She had never been out this late alone before. Maybe evening strolls with her fiancé or friends at a younger age. But never once this alone. With fear creeping over her shoulders and grabbing her, Little Alice took off once again. She felt the earth beneath her and the beating of her heart as if it were to burst. Tripping over a branch, she fell against a leering tree. Quickly pushing herself as to be against it, she fell through shrubbery, fallen leaves, and dirt and into a rabbit hole. Falling, falling, falling. Down she went. Before too long, she hit marble flooring.
Struggling to get up, she slowly did so – coughing and holding herself while doing so. Her eyes must have been deceiving herself. Was she dreaming? It couldn’t be, there was logically no reason. Gaining focus, she looked around to find herself in a small room with doors surrounding her. She ran to each, shaking them as a plea to open. When each resisted to do so, she remembered something long ago forgotten. The key. Little Alice slowly reached into her blouse, and delicately took the key and brought it to surface. Running to each door, she tried the key desperately. The last, and smallest door was before her. She knelt down, blew the dust away from the lock, and heard the satisfying ‘click’, unlocking it. Looking through it after opened, she tried to see what was through it – but all she could see, was darkness.
Hours passed. Time slowly crawled, leaving traces of fear and question in Little Alice’s mind. She inhaled, and exhaled out deeply. Bent down, and crawled through the door. Her hips felt the outline of the door and her skin felt the dirt as she made her way through the door. Little Alice made it through, and as the darkness crept on her she turned back to rush back through the door – but it was lost in the black out. Running through the new world, she flew as fast as her legs would carry her. Unfortunately, a dip beneath her caused to fall and faint.
When she woke, two strange creatures surrounding her aided her to health and explained to her where she was: Wonderland. Assuming she was dreaming, she went along with each outrageous fact and accepted the customs of this new life. The two creatures explained to her of the Dark Ages when the Queen and King of Hearts ruled the realm until Alice came and protested against them and freed the kingdom. For some time the world knew peace and freedom, letting new magic in the world and welcoming it. Without knowing so, however, the New Magic’s creatures were evil and argued for rule of the realm. There is now an world shattering battle for control and power. In hopes that the new, Little Alice, would help rule and heal their world – the creatures pleaded for her assistance. Realizing the truth and reality in this backwards world, Little Alice begins to wake and find this world to be real. Leading a rebellion cannot be done alone. Will you join the Rebellion and fight against the evils of the New Magic’s realm or be the one to crush Little Alice into this world permanently without hopes of returning?
