It was getting easier to hunt alone, or at least that was what Emmett told his family. In truth he was tired of having a babysitter, someone freaking out over every single little thing he did. Yes he was in pain and it was going to take him a while to move past his loss and while his family was being slow with him, he felt like in some way they were waiting on him to be better so the family could move on as a whole. Emmett didn't like to be rushed, balked at it. Hell he was worse some mornings than Rose ever was about procrastinating. When you had something like size on your side your siblings stopped fighting with you after awhile. Lately on his hunting trips it had been the guys, Edward, Jasper and Carlisle that kept him company. It was easier he guessed as the guys didn't try to pry into his feelings or try to get him to open up. He just wasn't ready to talk about it, to face that he was going to be alone for eternity. It was just something that was going to come with time so why rush the healing process right? After all eternity was such a long time especially for vampires.
There wasn't anywhere in particular he was headed this time, seeking a place not too far from the Cullen house that was nestled in the forest. His plans had been to do a quick hunting trip, get his fill as quickly as possible and head back to the house before they could ask too many questions about his disappearance. Hunting alone wasn't so bad for now at least. The silence in the area was a bit unnerving, because Emmett couldn't' remember a time when he was actually quiet enough to hear the noises that were made around him. He could hear the birds in the trees, the animals skittering around. He could even hear the wind rustling the leaves as his feet carried him smoothly over the leaves, sticks and twigs that decorated the forest floor. His target was deer, not really a personal preference but more one of convenience than anything. Deer were the closest of the large game that ventured towards Forks and it would mean he didn't have to travel to very far to find something to eat. He hated hunting close though because if they weren't careful they could thin the herds down to a dangerous level.
Letting the wind whip around his body, Emmett gave himself over to his instincts. Inside of him was a natural born killer, a creature to rival any other. He didn't have the speed of Edward or the grace of Jasper and Alice but he had strength and that was important to him. He could overpower most opponents before they could blink. A deer thought, that wasn't really any challenge. He much preferred grizzly but it was too late in the year for them. They were already out of hibernation and it was no fun if he couldn't take on one that was irritable. No deers were challenge at all, they were dumb creatures but it was close enough that he could be quick. Letting his sense of smell take over for a moment, Emmett could smell them about ten yards to his east, but there was something else. He wasn't quite sure what the scent was but it was unique. Floral and feminine but with a darker edge he had come to associate with vampires. After the debacle with the newborns' Em was hesitant to approach but he had no choice. He couldn't starve simply because he's unsure what this thing was going to do.
Slowing his pace down Emmett launched himself at a dear and sank his fangs into them. As soon as the blood coated his throat he felt ten times better. There was something about animal blood that called to Emmett. True he knew that human blood was more appealing but since he was changed he'd been on a pretty consistent diet of animal blood. n one way he had tried to only go after the animals that were already injured, at least then he didn't feel so bad. If they were injured and going to die and he spared them the pain of having to suffer then he had fed himself while doing a good deed; at least that's who he justified his own actions. He could hear a shuffling near him, the sound of feet approaching and he dropped the body of the now dead dear and looked at the intruder. Blood dripped from his mouth making him look ferocious when he was really more surprised than anything. He had just finished feeding and then he turned around and started running through the forest and towards the House.
He zipped around big trees and zagged around sharp jagged rocks. He even jumped over a few small creeks. He arrived at the cullen's house and he slowed down to a human pace. he walked up to his jeep and ran his hands along the side of it. Then he made sure that the seats were clean for the day he had planned for him and his cute and adoreable neice. He then walked along the walkway that led to the door. he opened it and he heard his mother teaching nessie school stuff. He was feeling bad for nessie because she had to learn everything at home til a certain age. He shrugged it off and walked upstairs and into his bedroom. He gathered up stuff that he would need for the fun day he had planned. Then he went out of his room and down the stairs and he spoke" Who is ready to have some fun with unckey Emmett? I thought I heard there was a little girl that wanted to have some fun. I may have been wrong but we were going to have so much fun"
