character full name: Diego Jesus Rivera
alias: It’s just Diego.
age: apparently 16, actually 21
birthday: November 11
affiliation: nomad
status: wild vampire, may possibly try to go vegetarian
"I'd noticed that his eyes were black - coal black."
~Isabella Swan~
~Isabella Swan~
eyes: brown as a human, as a vampire red (eventually yellow) or black, narrow
hair: Short and black, used to be curly, now is more spikey
height: 6’2”
weight: 164
distinguishing features: none
general appearance:
Diego has dark skin, partly from his heritage and partly from being born and raised in California. Since he was into swimming and surfing he has a toned body, but he isn’t overly muscular. He has changed his appearance slightly since being with the newborn army, mostly to blend in and because of the changing times, but also because he doesn’t want to be seen as a part of that army. He heard about what happened to them and he doesn’t wish to join their fate. His style is simple - jeans and t-shirts, covered by his favorite leather jacket. He’s tall and lean, but due to the fact that he was turned as a teenager, still has a babyish look about him.
"I will always tell you the truth."

likes:
-blood - duh, he’s a vampire
-Bree, though he hasn’t seen her in a few years and she thinks he’s dead
-swimming, surfing, all that water stuff
-cloudy areas where he can be out during the day
-being a vampire - hey, it’s cool, especially now that he’s figured out he’s not destroyed by a little sun
-music - singing, dancing, listening
-being relaxed
-calm people
-storms
-nature
dislikes:
-gangs - they killed his brother
-Riley and Victoria - though they’re dead, he still holds a grudge
-stress - everyone gets stressed out, but Diego absolutely hates it, often he thinks it’s the end of the world if he’s stressed out
-large groups of vampires - after the newborn army he sort of distrusts them
-when people are reckless - Diego is very careful and thinks things through
-Annoying people - unfortunately, Diego finds a lot of people annoying
-Authority - like groups of vampires, this scares him slightly after having to flee the newborn army
-The Voturi - he heard that they at least intended to kill Bree, he doesn’t know if they let her go or not and he is unaware they have crumbled
-Being lied to - who does like this? He gets especially mad about it since he trusted and was lied to by Riley
-Not being able to eat food - he’s still adjusting to that part. He tried it once, throwing up wasn’t fun
ambitions:
-Find Bree - he promised her he’d come back, and he doesn’t want to break that promise. But he doesn’t know if she’s alive, he’s just hoping she found a way to escape.
-Do something good with his life - he found out his existence was for an army, he doesn’t like that and he’d like to figure out some way to help, though he’s not sure how to do that since he needs blood to function
abilities:
-control - not in the sense that he can refrain from drinking human blood, but he is smarter about it than most vampires and can stop if he absolutely has to
-intelligence - in his human life, he got good grades in school, in his vampire life, he uses common sense, though he’s can be fooled by people he trusts
-resourceful - Diego is used to using what’s around him
secrets:
-He’s alive - that’s a big secret - the Volturi as well as Bree and the former newborn army (anyone who got away that is) thinks Riley and Victoria killed him
-he tried to kill a gang to get revenge for what they did to his brother
-he was made fun of in high school - a secret because now he comes off as cool, calm, and collected
personality:
As a human, Diego was tortured by the high school bullies, one gang specifically. He kept to himself and did his own work. He was a hard worker, getting good grades in school and holding down several jobs to help pay the bills in his house. He was also very family oriented. He helped take care of his younger brother, helped him with school work and played the father-type role for Jose. He was a responsible young man with ambitions. First on his list was to get out of Washington and go to college. He would take his brother and mother with him. He had no intentions of finding his father, who left shortly after his brother was born and then later was discovered to have died. He had a passion for music, and played the guitar. His musical tastes ranged from classical to pop to rock and alternative. He became more bold when his brother died and he decided to take revenge out on the gang that killed him.
In his vampire life, Diego was calm. His thoughts were collected and he thought about what he was doing before he did it. Not that that was much of a change, but he could think about all the possibilities more. He began developing theories about the world since part of it he never knew existed. He was also more trusting, and this left him blind to some things. He was so trusting that he overlooked things that he should have been using his common sense for. He was the cool guy now, someone to be looked up to and admired. Something for the younger vampires to look up to. After the whole thing with the newborn army, he was less trusting. Still a sweetie pie like in his human years, the same responsible person, but he was wary, and large numbers of vampires began to frighten him.
"Don't get your family slaughtered for pride."

history:
Diego was born in Las Angeles, California. He was the oldest son of two and became the father figure to his brother José even though he was only three years older. This happened because their father left them shortly after the birth of José. Though Diego had really no one to compare their father to, he would have said that he wasn’t a good father figure anyway. The man sold drugs to support his own habit and refused to hold down a steady job, leaving Diego’s mother, Linda to take care of the two boys on her own. Diego helped as much as he could, growing up quickly and becoming the responsible man of the house. That wasn’t to say he didn’t have time for his own needs. Diego and his brother had a lot in common and got along incredibly well considering they were so close in age. José respected his older brother and Diego made sure that his younger brother had whatever he needed, even if they couldn’t have everything they wanted.
Time passed and it was time for Diego to start high school. When he was sixteen his mother got good news, she would have a better position at her work. The downside was that they would have to relocated to Portland. Neither of the boys complained, but Diego quickly found out that being the new kid from California wasn’t the best thing to be right in the middle of your high school career. It wasn’t long before a gang started to give him trouble. He did his best to avoid them, and it worked really well for him. It didn’t work well for his thirteen-year-old brother. José wasn’t a trouble maker; he looked up to Diego, but he was too young and the people in the gang were determined to cause him problems. Diego still blames himself for the fact that the gang killed José. Immense grief and anger caused Diego to break into the home of one of the members of the gang and take a gun. He shot that member in his sleep and then went to get revenge on the rest of the gang, but they started closing in on him when he found them together.
Diego didn’t get a chance to die. Riley came and saved him from the gang members. The two of them finished off the rest of the gang members and then Riley turned Diego. Diego had to leave behind his mother after that and he just hoped that she’d be okay. The torture of his brother’s death never left him, though. He did find some acceptance with Riley and his group of new vampires. Diego could be trained quickly and he was obedient. He followed Riley’s orders and had the most respect for him that he could for anyone because Riley had been his best friend. He trusted Riley so much that Diego overlooked common sense and some things that Riley had been telling them.
He met Bree Tanner while hunting with Kevin and Casey. He realized he’d never noticed her and wondered why. Later she told him she hung around Freaky Fred a lot and his not noticing her made sense. Fred wasn’t the kind of person you got close to, though he was sure it wasn’t anything personal. Riley had said that Fred showed some sort of potential. Kevin and Casey were wild, while the Bree girl seemed timid. The two of them went hunting on their own and began spending time together, stealing from malls, Bree usually getting books while Diego was more fond of music. It was together that Bree and Diego found out the truth about what happened in the sun. They debated about whether to tell Riley what they learned and finally one night made their way to the house that Riley’s scent led to. A few other vampires followed and Bree and Diego stayed up in the trees. After the group of vampires left the house, Diego made Bree go back to the others and stay around Fred so Diego could tell Riley. But after Bree left, Diego overheard Riley and Victoria talking about their plans for the army. He deduced that the two knew what was going on, but then the talking stopped and he thought that they had heard him, so Diego took off.
Diego went back to the place with the newborns several times, but there was always others there; he was sure this was because of Riley. He was sure that the others thought he was dead, fried in the sun or something (which of course he knew was impossible now), but he wanted to make sure that Bree was okay. He was never able to find her though because he couldn’t actually get into the house without being noticed. The next time he came back everyone was gone. He picked up some things, a book he knew Bree had bought and a shirt he’d seen her wear, planning to follow her scent, but it was gone over by rain and the scents of several other vampires and humans by that time. Her scent was lost. But he wanted to find her, so he began looking anyway. He searched all over, carrying his possessions and her book and shirt around in a book bag hoping that he’d be able to find her.

rp sample:
Adia rolled over in her bed. This was one of the downsides of being a hybrid - she needed sleep; vampires didn’t. And vampires were the people she was hanging around. She didn’t have anything against humans as a whole, but they were weak and with the whole not letting people know what you are kind of thing, Adia just preferred to stay with the blood drinkers. Besides, she felt more vampire than she did human. Human food was absolutely disgusting, blood was delicious. She loved the feeling of warm human blood running down her throat. Sure, she could survive on human food, but that was just about as appetizing as a human eating a nice big piece of a cardboard box. The hybrid looked around the room as she stretched. It was five in the afternoon and Adia was in a hotel room. She usually stayed with the Pure Ones, but lately she’d been feeling the urge to be on her own. At least for a little while. Well, not by herself. Adia had been going out night after night just to be looked at if nothing else. She stretched again and sighed. The bed was just so comfortable she didn’t want to really get up, but she’d told someone she met last night that she’d meet them at a café.
Getting ready was a big ordeal for the blond. Even with the telekinesis, the vampire speed, and the three hundred and twelve years under her belt of practice, Adia liked to look her best and so it took a little longer than it would a regular hybrid. Just picking out clothing was a big thing. Should she go with the red skirt or a blue one? Then what kind of shoes and did she wear a shirt or a tank top? Eventually, she decided on a black corset top with a black and blue skirt. Her shoes were high heels and had a black and silver swirls with open toes. It was more than a bit slutty, but Adia didn’t particularly care. In fact, a lot of her clothes were like this. Adia was a fan of attention, and that meant any attention. Sexual attention was the best though, since it made her feel more attractive. The woman knew she was pretty, there was no doubting that. She loved playing with her looks. It was just a little ego boost when others responded to the way she looked too. She left her blond hair down, slightly wavy, and put a black headband with a flower on it in her hair. A pearl choker finished the look and Adia stared at herself in the mirror.
That was when the alarm went off. She was running a bit late. She stuffed some money into her corset top with the hotel key and walked quickly (but not at full speed to avoid being noticed in that way) out of the room and down the hall. The hotel wasn’t far from the café, so she had decided to walk. Her heels clicked against the sidewalk and Adia smiled as people stopped to look at her a second time, probably thinking she was some Class A prostitute. The thought made her laugh inside. Then she heard the “Let’s Start A Riot” ringtone that signaled she had a text message. She frowned when she read it. The person she met was canceling. Apparently because she had to cover up a mistake on her meal. The other woman was a vampire, Adia remembered, so a mistake probably wasn’t good. And she was already so close to the café. Well that just sucked, but she continued walking. Maybe she’d meet someone else there and have a little fun with them. Probably human, but at least it’d be something.
The blond stopped short though, pulling her eyebrows together slightly in confusion at the person leaning up against a motorcycle. What the hell? Maybe he was waiting for someone, but that didn’t look like the case. Part of her wanted to mess with the guy and knock over his vehicle with her mind. She could tell he wasn’t human, which was interesting. Maybe he was looking for a meal. Adia gave him a second look and realized that he was quite attractive. He looked older than she did - Adia wasn’t fond of being stuck in the body of a sixteen-year-old. Hell, he was a vampire so he probably was older than her. Adia put her phone back into her pocket and realized she’d been looking at the man for a while. There was something about him that almost drew her to him. That made her a bit angry in all honesty, but she could still have some fun.
“Waiting for someone or do you normally just stare at humans?” A smirk played on her face as she spoke and eyed the motorcycle. “Nice bike.”
