~♥~♥~♥~♥~ IMAGE HERE[/IMG] ~♥~♥~♥~♥~ L ea Marie Foulgood was all but bored this past week. She had been, more or less, running around doing everything she possible could to get situated into her new house in Forks. She had finally received the fortunes her grandmother had left her, and furnished and pained her house. Lea was excited about settling in, not having a real home in 15 years. Still, the house felt lonely and not as happy as she had expected being alone all the time. She was desperately in need of some social time with people other than her crazy, yet kind, neighbors.
When the clock in her room announced that it was nine o’clock, the first thing Lea did was check the whether channel. As expected, it would be another rainy day in Forks. Lea knew that this was her chance to go shopping, something she had been inching to do. Lea was not on a budget; her grandmother’s money was more than enough to pay the bills. She was planning on getting a job, however, when she could control herself better around the humans.
The Vampire slowly got up from where she was sitting on her bed and shuffled her way to her closet. Her small collection of clothes seemed to keep getting smaller after she hunted, so she was in desperate need of new clothes. Lea decided shopping was the best thing to do today. And with that, she went into her closet. She found a pair of dark blue skinny jeans, and baby blue t-shirt, silver flats and a silver purse.
She changed quickly, and then went to her bathroom. She lazily ran the brush through her long, brown hair and smiled when she was finished. Lea stared at her eyes in the mirror hanging in front of her. They were black, she figured she didn’t need contacts. And as usual, Lea put no make-up on. She skipped back into her room, over to her nightstand grapping her iPod, phone, keys, and wallet. She shoved them in her purse and headed through her house to her front door.
Lea exited the house and locked the door behind her. Since she had no car, she was going to have to walk into town, which was not far. She had already done it before, she it would be no problem trying to find her way there. She walked at a normal vampire speed to the edge of her driveway, then slowed down as she turned onto the sidewalk. Lea was not used to walking so slow. She sighed, and just focused on remembering her way into town.
It took her approximately fifteen minutes before she was in the hub of Forks. Cute little shops, most owned by the residents, were lined up on either side of the street. Not a lot of humans were there, so she was happy about that. After looking both ways (a habit she got herself used to so humans wouldn’t’ flip), she crossed the street and made her way up to a small bench, she proceeded to sit. The brunette looked around, unsure which clothing store she was going to hit first.

Jasper was not a real fan of shopping because what he wore was not something that really concerned him, but Alice liked shopping because she always knew what people would like before she even purchased the item. It was more than simply having good taste. Alice could look at an outfit and make the choice of giving it to someone, and then she could use her visions to see if that person would like it or not. Some people would find a gift like that to be a real pain, but Jasper saw that Alice used her gift to make happy things happen for everyone that she considered friends or family.
This was the only reason that Jasper needed in order to go on a shopping trip with Alice. Well there was another reason besides that it made Alice happy. Whenever he was with Alice, any situation was bearable to Jasper, which included being surrounded by humans. Those were the situations where Jasper had the most trouble because of the smell of humans. Even with all the years that he had spent with the Cullen, Jasper still worried that a few drops of blood might set him into a feeding frenzy that would cause some serious problems for everyone in the area, and that was something that probably kept him from getting past his blood thirst.
His mind was always focusing on the bad scenarios that could happen, but today Jasper was going to try and enjoy the fact that he was with Alice in an area that was filled with human and still in control of himself. It wasn’t like someone was going to stab themselves on purpose to cause him to begin feeding off of everyone that he saw in the immediate area. Even if someone did do that, Jasper couldn’t stand the smell of most of the people in the area because of all the weird perfumes and designer hairsprays that some of them had used on themselves. It just seemed to completely ruin the appeal in his mind when he took a big whiff of any of those.
While he was on the mental topic of smells, Jasper had caught the whiff of something that was becoming more common in the area. Knowing that there was another vampire in the area, Jasper switched from smelling the people to reading their emotions to see if anyone was anxious or hungry, but all he found was that someone was very uncertain about something while everyone else seemed to be either irritated by the prices or happy like Alice was. He was of course making some assumptions about why they were feeling the way they were feeling because he wasn’t a telepath like Edward was.
Jasper turned to Alice to see if she had seen anything in the possible future that related to a vampire being in the area. “Do you remember if Jacob said anything about there being any new vampires in the area?” If anyone would know about new vampires, it would have to be the wolf pack.

Alice was beyond happy at the moment. She was going shopping with Jasper. She knew Jasper wasn't very fond of shopping, but he put up with it for her sake. There were so many sales going on today it was crazy. She wondered if she maybe should have brought Emmett along to carry the bags. She had tried to convince Bella to come along, but she really hadn't wanted to go. As much as Alice liked to get her way she wasn't in the mood to drag Bella along. Even after the girl had become a vampire her hated of shopping hadn't lessened.
When they were walking she caught the scent of another vampire. She shrugged her shoulders at Jasper's question. Jacob would have likely been a good person to ask, but she hadn't talked to him lately. He smelled, he blocked her visions, and he was dating Leah Clearwater when he had imprinted on her niece. So it was safe to say she wasn't very fond of Jacob at the moment. In fact she had been avoiding him lately, because she didn't want a confrontation. There was enough drama in their family, and she didn't feel like being the cause for more.
She looked around until she finally found the vampire standing in front of one of the shop. The vampire was a female with long brown hair. She looked so familiar to Alice, but she couldn't place her finger on why. The girl was standing in front of a store window where several dresses were displayed. The window reflected the girl's image giving Alice a sense of deja-vu. Then suddenly images flashed before her eyes. She saw a girl that looked similar to her twirling around in an old fashioned dress in front of the mirror in what had to be a bed room. The girl turned to someone and said, "Mary look at the dress Mom bought me. Don't I look pretty?" Thanks to the mirror Alice was able to see that the girl was talking to a younger version of herself. Alice saw that she had to be at least five years younger then when she had been turned.
Alice saw her image in the mirror smile and say, "Of course you look pretty Cynthia." With those words the images began to fade. Cynthia, that had been the name of her sister according to her records at the asylum she was committed to. Why was she remembering some of her human past now? The girl reminded her so much of Cynthia in looks, and just the way she stood. Cynthia had a daughter years after Alice had been put in the mental institution, and Alice had read that her niece had a daughter too. It was impossible that this girl was related to Alice. Wasn't it? She hadn't checked on information on her family in a while, because after her memories hadn't been jogged the first time she got depressed. Alice was so deep in thought she hadn't realized she had zoned out.

~♥~♥~♥~♥~ IMAGE HERE[/IMG] ~♥~♥~♥~♥~ R unning her fingers through her hair, the brunette shrugged. She was wasting precious shopping time just standing there. She decided she would just enter the clothing boutique she had been standing in front of. She needed a new sundress, anyhow. But something made her pause. A sharp breath was all it took. She closed her eyes and groaned: there were vampires in the area. She could tell they were close, but she wasn’t going to pay any attention to them. She continued up the steps to the door of the store, pausing again. What if they thought she might hurt someone? Surely, Lea’s eyes were not red, but they had hints of red in them.
Lea licked her lips and took another quick breath, almost loosing the vampire scent in the mixture of humans. She tried her hardest to ignore the other scents, just thinking of the vampires. She didn’t know why she was being so cautious, but she was. She didn’t need a reason. The last thing she needed was to be questioned by vampires on what she was doing in Forks.
Deciding it was best to leave, she turned on her heel and walked down the steps, letting her hair fall in her face. But she could hear talking. Very familiar voices, no doubt. But Lea hadn’t met anyone in Forks yet, and surely none of the Cullens would be around, they would probably shop in much bigger and better stores. She got the feeling she was being watched by the two(she assumed there were at least two present), and she wasn’t planning on staying long to figure out why. But she decided to investigate anyway, it wouldn’t hurt…. Much. That is, unless she was being paranoid and imagining the whole thing. She doubted she was however.
The Vampire walked down the side walk she was on and crossed the street, careful not to anger any humans by getting in their way. She then proceeded to march up to the two vampires, staring at her feet and following her scent. “Anything I can help you with?” she asked a bit coldly, “I don’t like to be stared at. ” Finding a little bit more confidence in herself, the girl looked at the two. Both looked like an odd match for each other. One was quite tall, and the other was around Lea’s height. She thought the height difference was awkward. Possibly because she never recognized it before. When Lea saw the past, she saw it exactly how it happened in real life, but from different points of views. That and everything always looked a bit cloudy in the past. Maybe that was why it took her a second or two to realize who was standing in front of her. She gawked at them, obvious embarrassment from her rude approach danced across her young face. But she had to say something…. At least to Alice, she wasn’t keen on talking to Jasper much. Lea looked at both vampires once more before straightening up and smiling a little bit, “Please forgive me for my rude greeting. Can we start over? Hi! I’m Lea, and I already know you two so no need to introduce yourselves. ” Lea squinted, imagining just how much of a stalker she sounded like. “I mean, I see the past. So of course, I would know my aunt and uncle….?” Lea sighed, she just kept digging a hole deeper, obviously not good at first impressions. Alice’s shrug to his question reminded Jasper that Jacob wasn’t really in high standing with his family, and it didn’t help that the boy smelled. For the life of him, he wasn’t sure why he had asked her if she had heard anything from Jacob specifically. Jasper could have very well asked if the wolves had given them a heads up on a new vampire, but it was a little late to be thinking of that idea now. He would just have to keep that in mind the next time they came across a new vampire, but for now he needed to keep his thoughts trained on the current situation.
His eyes scanned the area for this vampire, and Jasper found her standing in front of a shop. It seemed that being turned into a blood thirsty monster did not change one’s personal habits like needing new clothes. Well it didn’t matter why she was here because she was on the move, and Jasper knew that the young woman was aware of their presence. It was similar to the saying about snipers. If one can see a sniper, then the sniper must be able to see you. Of course, one would have to switch out the words ‘sniper’ and ‘see’ for ‘vampire’ and ‘smell’.
As if he could predict her movements as easily as Alice, Jasper watched the young woman taking an indirect route to them. There was a hint of annoyance radiating off of the young woman with a little bit of nervousness mixed into it. Reading emotions made handling conversations a little easier, so Jasper planned to offer an apology while casually asking what the young woman’s business is in Forks. It was a good plan in his mind, but something happened to mess it all up.
The girl’s emotional output did a complete one-eighty from being slightly annoyed and nervous to completely embarrassed and happy, which threw Jasper off. The apology the preceded Lea’s form of an introduction sort of made Jasper wonder what was going on. He had lived with a telepath and a precog for quite some time so he was used to people knowing more about him then he realized, but having someone come up to him angry, look at him and then start apologizing while stating that she knew him was definitely bizarre. The word ‘stalker’ came to mind, but not many people would be able to backtrack his complete history.
When Lea announced to them that she was their niece, Jasper turned to Alice with a confused look on his face. “I am going to assume that she is related to you.” It was a good assumption since most, if not all, of Jasper’s relatives were long dead, and even if a descendant of one of his family was alive it wasn’t likely that he was a topic that had been brought up around supper. That little detail alone wasn’t the only reason why he believed that Lea was related to Alice because that would be a pretty weak argument. The whole knowing people before meeting them was more of an Alice thing.
(I apologize for the wait)

Alice finally snapped herself out of her thought when she heard Jasper breathing deeply. It was obvious that he was trying to locate the vampire. She did wonder if the wolves had discovered anything. She doubted it as then it would have likely ended up back to Jake, and he would have given a heads up. Still she doubted Sam's pack would inform Jacob or one of the Cullens about a vampire in the area. Ever since Bella had been turned, and Jacob had separated from Sam's pack the Cullens had not been on good terms with Sam or any of his pack mates.
Alice did feel they had lost a valuable ally when Jacob and some of the others split from Sam's pack. She didn't have an opinion on the whole who was the better alpha thing. She wasn't around Sam enough to really judge him, but she knew he was smart. She didn't agree with the man on somethings, but considering the two basically had instincts to fight the other it wasn't surprising. It was like lions and antelopes getting along. Once in a great great while it happened, but it was basically a freak incident. Besides the instinct was still there no matter how well they got along.
The vampire they had smelled came towards them, and she didn't appear happy to see them. It was as if they were bothering her or wasting her time. The girl was Alice's height, and she spoke very coldly. Well it wasn't like they weren't used to being greeted coldly by other vampires. A lot of vampires viewed them as freaks, because they fed on animals instead of humans. Honestly though she could care less about what other vampires thought of her and her family. As long as they didn't threaten her family she didn't care what they did really. She didn't like the red eyed vampires feeding on humans, but it was understandable considering that was natural instinct. Now the vampire was gawking at the two of them. She smiled at Alice but seemed to be giving Jasper the cold shoulder. She wondered if maybe it was someone from Jasper's past, but that wouldn't explain the girl smiling at her. The girl seemed embarrassed, and Alice couldn't help but wonder what had made the girl do a complete one eighty. Usually people didn't change their attitudes so very suddenly.
When the girl spoke Alice felt her brain had been over loaded. Okay the girl had a special power. She could see into the past. That was interest. Alice and Jasper were her aunt and uncle. Okay now Alice felt a little lost. If it hadn't been for the name. She recognized the name instantly from the file she had read before. She nodded at Jasper. "Yes she is my great nice technically. I recognize the name. I wasn't aware you had been changed." She said to Lea. Just how had the girl been changed, and when had the change occurred.

~♥~♥~♥~♥~ IMAGE HERE[/IMG] ~♥~♥~♥~♥~ T he vampire, to say the least, was a tad surprised Alice hadn’t seen her coming. She figured that sometimes it was better that Alice didn’t see some things or people up ahead. It made life a bit more interesting. Besides, if she didn’t want to meet Lea she could have avoided the meeting today. But Lea barely gave that a second thought. She was happy that they were here, although she would have rather met in a quieter place, she was fine out in public for now. The vampire still wasn’t breathing, and she had control.
Looking Jasper over once more, she looked at Alice. There was one thing all the Brandon girls had: the same eyes. Lea smiled slightly, realizing that Alice had most certainly not lacked that trait, even with the different color. She chewed on her bottom lip nervously, really not sure what to say. ”Anyway,” she began rather quietly, ”I-I came to find you…. To talk to you about something, Aunt Alice. I know you don’t know your past, but maybe I can help? I can tell you what happened as a human, if you would like.” There were a lot of things Lea had been expecting to happen at this moment. She was interested to hear whether her aunt was going to accept or reject. Lea glanced to her uncle, ”Of course, this is a big decision for you too…. So I don’t expect an answer right away.” Her hand found her way nervously to her mother’s necklace. It had been a gift to her as a child, and she rarely took it off. Probably Lea’s most prized passion, she remembered it rightly belonged to Alice….. It was passed down to the oldest daughter when the mother thought she was ready to have it, but Alice never received it. Cynthia did. But Lea knew she couldn’t give it up, no matter if she thought it was right or not. It would be too much of a struggle to part with it. ”Again, I am really sorry for my rude tone before….. It’s just, I know vampires can get defensive when new ones arrive in town, and granted, I hadn’t looked up so I didn’t realize it was either of you.” Lea sincerely hoped that they could look past the obnoxious introduction; after all, they were family. The vampire had /wanted/ to meet them and have a good relationship with them. ”Yes, I’m from Alice’s side of them family,” Lea said to Jasper. She was inwardly glad she wasn’t having a hard time attempting to be nice to him. But Alice had also confirmed Lea’s story. ”I haven’t looked into your past for quite some time. I didn’t know you had checked up on us.” She shrugged slightly, looking at Alice. ”It wasn’t that long ago. I would say around 15 years ago is when it happened. I haven’t kept track, to tell you the truth. It makes me feel a bit too old for my liking,” she admitted. In this conversation, Jasper was pretty much a spectator that got the occasional glance every now and again from Lea. He wasn’t really sure if the girl was sizing him up for some reason, but Jasper decided not to dwell on this thought for very long. It wasn’t likely that she was going to pick a fight with him for any reason if she was truly Alice’s niece, which was obviously true because Alice had confirmed the fact that they were indeed related. There was also the fact that Lea had been radiating happiness ever since she recognized Alice, and at the moment that was good enough for Jasper.
From what Jasper could gather through his gift and through observation, the girl was definitely nervous about something, but he could only make a few guesses as to what it might be. It could just be that meeting a new family member was something to be anxious about, or there could be some unknown reason that he would never even dream of thinking about. In this case, it was the latter as Lea was making the offer to clear up the foggy parts of Alice’s past, which was a nice proposal if Alice wanted to know what had happened to her.
The strange thing was when Lea said that this was a big decision for him as well as Alice because Jasper didn’t see it that way. This was Alice’s history that was being brought up, so whatever she decided was something that Jasper could live with. Of course, it was a pretty big decision to begin with, so Lea was right to not expect an answer within a few seconds of hearing it. Jasper wasn’t sure what Alice’s decision on the subject was going to be, but he knew that it would be very difficult to decide whether or not to learn about a life that happened so long ago.
“I don’t think there is any reason to dwell on something that happened before actual introductions were even made.” It wasn’t like this was the first time that they were met with hostility by another vampire only to befriend them later on. Of course, none of those previous situations involved a relative to be the unfriendly vampire, but that was mainly because none of them had existing family members that were also vampires which made Alice the exception to that concept. It seemed that the past was being brought up in many ways for his family, which made him wonder if any descendant of his family still walked the earth in one form or another.
From what Lea had told them, she had been a vampire roughly a tenth of the time that Jasper had, which still made her relatively young to him. This also made him wonder why it had taken her so long to seek Alice out, but of course the answer came into his mind soon after he thought the question. It wasn’t like Alice’s transformation to a vampire could have been known by anyone, so there would be no logical way for Lea to know that one of her family was a vampire. Jasper kept silent about his own internal questions as it seemed rude to interrupt whatever may be going on in the minds of these two long, lost relatives.

~♥~♥~♥~♥~ IMAGE HERE[/IMG] ~♥~♥~♥~♥~ F or whatever reason, Alice had to leave for a bit. Lea smiled and waved, she would probably formally say goodbye to Alice later. Lea turned back to Jasper and scoffed, obviously in a sarcastic tone, ”Aren’t you kind?” Lea sighed slightly, throwing some hair over her shoulder, her eyes never leaving Jasper. She was going to tell him what she thought of him and his past. But she stopped herself, pursing her lips and folding her arms across her chest. Was it worth it before she got to get to know her aunt? Lea doubted it, besides from her obvious feelings on her face, he probably knew /exactly/ what she was feeling. The vampire glanced down at her nails and suggested, ”Tell me about your power?” As long as she kept the conversation going, maybe she could find a better reason to dislike Jasper than disliking his past. She glanced up at him before going back to her nails. Her mind wasn’t really on Jasper, just trying to figure out where to locate a nail salon that was open today. She was in desperate need for a manicure. Lea bit her lip and nodded slightly and mentally confirmed her appointment, ”So…. About your family? I would love to hear more about them. Anyone important that I should probably meet?” Lea had a genuinely interested tone in her voice. Her brown eyes looked up at Jasper and stood there. She always found the Cullens interesting…… They were an oddly large coven that the Volturi didn’t seem to want to discard of. That, needless to say, was a shock for Lea. She hadn’t looked into the Volturi’s past, so she didn’t know why that was, but she knew it was uncommon. Then again, the Cullens always seemed to be able to bend the rules, not that it was a bad thing at all. Also, Lea had gotten the Cullen confused a lot, so hearing about each person could refresh her memory. The brunette sighed, she really would rather ask Alice all of these questions, but she knew it was important to try and build a bond with her uncle. She forced a small smile on her face, but was not going to apologize for her rudeness before, for it was completely on purpose. But she wasn’t going to give Jasper anything outright negative to report to Alice. She wondered if he would. Why would he actually want to ruin such a big opportunity for Alice because his niece and he didn’t get along so well? Lea smirked at the thought, Jasper obviously love Alice way too much for that. The vampire took two steps over to a bench that was close by and sat down. Jasper was welcome to sit next to her, so she politely gestured to the seat next to her as an open invitation. It was /his/ decision to stay standing. Even though he knew that she must have her reasons for doing so, Jasper was not very pleased to be left alone with Lea, who was only his family via Alice. If anyone should have left, then it should have been him since this was not someone that he would talk to under normal circumstances, and these were far from normal circumstances. “I am told that I have my moments.” Jasper was never sure when he was knowingly being kind to someone or just saying whatever he found to be the logical response to the situation. It helped that he was able to read what other people feeling after he said something because it allowed him to know how to properly respond.
It was interesting that this girl was full of so many inquiries about him especially if she could see into his past, but maybe she wasn’t able to understand all that she saw. It made sense to Jasper since Alice couldn’t always understand the intent of what she saw in the future, so maybe comprehension was the reasons for her inquiry. “In the most simple of terms, I am what most people would call an empath. I have the ability to sense and manipulate what people are feeling as long as they are in my presence, but I only manipulate emotions when the situation truly calls for it.” Of course, he didn’t mention the obvious fact that his gift was a double edge sword that had been the direct cause of his leaving Maria.
The next thing that Lea spoke of was to ask about which members of the house she should meet, which was an interesting thing to think about. “Even though they would all love to meet a relative of Alice, the ones that would probably be most pertinent to meet for you would have to be our adoptive parents, Carlisle and Esme, as well as our adopted daughter, Bree. By the time that you meet them, the rest of the family would have gravitated towards you.” He knew there was something about him that made her dislike him, and until he realized what it was Jasper wasn’t sure if her meeting Bree was a bright idea. It didn’t help that she was not a vegetarian like them, but it was not his place to try to convince her of the alternative.
When Lea sat on a bench and gestured for him to sit beside her, Jasper shook his head no. It wasn’t that he thought that sitting beside her was some sort of weakness; he just preferred to remain standing at all time for some reason that was unknown to him. “Since you probably know everything about my life, I would like to learn something about yours from beginning to present date. That is, if you don’t mind.” He really wanted to know these things about his new relative, but Jasper understood that sometimes people liked to keep certain things private like one’s former life.

~♥~♥~♥~♥~ IMAGE HERE[/IMG] ~♥~♥~♥~♥~ L ea smirked a little at Jasper, sure he had his ‘moments’. Everyone had times when they seemed nice, but as far as Lea was concerned, Jasper wasn’t nice. Maybe she was being a bit harsh on him even though they were just meeting, but Lea didn’t care. She actually listened intently to when Jasper was describing his power. Lea nodded slightly, even though she was practically him in his past, she couldn’t hear any thoughts or feel any of his emotions. She knew he could feel emotions, but she didn’t exactly know to what extent he could actually feel them. ”Okay, but the closer you are to a person….. do their emotions get stronger? Can they even affect your own mood at times?” Lea assumed most of the time he had a good grip on his own emotions, or he probably would have gone insane by now if that were possible for a vampire. Powers always interested her because no one had the same power. Each one had a different spin on it. The only real reason Lea had asked about Jaspers family was because she did have a hard time remembering details such as names from the past. She was more focused on the big picture while she watched, and usually forgot to keep an eye out for fine details in someone’s past. Lea smiled excitedly. Just the person she wanted to hear about, her cousin. Lea always wanted to have cousins when she was a little girl, but she never did. ”Bree….. Okay, I think Bree is the tall blonde? No, wait, that’s Esme… Bree’s the one with the dark hair, right? And she looks really young… I always mess up your family. That’s exciting though, I knew you had a daughter, but, I don’t know…. I always forgot she would be my /cousin/, I’ve never had a cousin so it’s weird….” For a moment Lea didn’t dislike Jasper so much. He wasn’t just walking away because Lea didn’t like him, he was still staying and talking. She looked at her uncle and frowned slightly. Why would he want to know about her? She wasn’t that old….. Compared to a lot of people’s pasts, hers was boring. She shrugged and sighed, figuring it was only fair to give him a chance to hate her just like she didn’t like him. Lea tapped her foot, gnawing on her lip thinking of where to begin, ”My parents were…. Older when they had me…. I was just there to make them look good. My brother and I, we were the perfect children. Only speaking when we were spoken too…. Mother and father made sure we behaved. They traveled a lot, so when they weren’t yelling at us we were off running around, ruing our clothes somewhere.” Lea licked her lips and sighed when she continued, ”Timmy was older than me, and my parent’s liked him better. He got to travel with them while I was left home, although I bet I could have behaved myself just as well as Timmy could. Anyway, your wife’s younger sister- my grandmother- was my favorite person in this whole world….. But she was a liar, like the rest of my family. She died when I was thirteen, leaving all of the riches- her money, the house, everything to me.” Lea looked down at the ground, ”I helped my brother pay for college, I paid for mine. I was in love with a boy whom my parent’s didn’t like because he was three years older than I was at the time.. I was going to marry him.” Then the story got dark. Lea told Jasper about how she had gotten sick one day and a vampire came t kill her. How another vampire had heard her screams, and saved her from dying. She also explained that her first vision was of Alice, but she didn’t go into any detail. If Jasper wanted to know what Lea had seen she would tell him. Then she was alone, a shard of mirror and the word ‘Vampire ‘carved into the earth. She finally finished, ”I have been working up self control around humans. I’ve only been a vampire for 15 years, and I think I’m doing pretty good. I can control my power better now, it doesn’t control my life like it used to.” ★★★★★★★★★★★★★★★TAG:: Jasper! SONG:: None NOTES:: None. WORD COUNT:: 725

This girl was definitely irritated by his very presence for some reason, but Jasper didn’t want to bring it up as it might lead to an argument which wasn’t something that he wanted to have to deal with at this point. Maybe when she met the family, he could see if Edward picked up on anything that might clue him in to what he was doing to make her feel this way. At least she seemed interest in his power, which could be for an ulterior motive that was also unknown to him. “It is definitely easier to sense specific people’s emotions if they are close by, but it isn’t like I have to put a lot of focus to read them.”
The next part of her question was something that Jasper wasn’t really sure how to answer as he had never been met someone with an extreme emotion that messed with how he was feeling. “My experience has shown me that one can never be too careful especially where powers are concerned, but my emotions seem to be unaffected by what others are feeling. Of course, the strength of the emotion that a person is emitting makes it more difficult for me to influence them.” It was one of the reasons why he took the precaution of trying to gradually shift what someone was feeling at the start of the conversation.
As far as family was concerned, Lea was pretty close to being right about what Bree looked like, but Jasper thought that maybe she was confusing Esme and Rosalie. It was sort of strange to be talking to someone other than Alice who knew so much about his family without actually meeting them, but Lea being Alice’s relative made it a little less strange but not by much. “It is definitely a strange thing to suddenly find out that your family is a lot larger than you ever knew.” Of course, Alice had known since she had been created that she was going to be a part of the Cullen Coven, so she had some time to get used the idea even though Jasper didn’t think it took her any time at all to become accustomed to it.
Then Lea began the story that consisted of her life, which wasn’t as eventful as his had been but it was at least more pleasant than the life of a vampire soldier. Of course, Jasper’s idea of pleasant consisted of not having to kill something to survive, but from what he could sense Lea found her story to be pretty dull. It seemed to Jasper that she disliked her parents and most of her family for being liars, but she didn’t elaborate on what exactly it was that they lied about. Of course, she had been fortunate enough to receive a great inheritance from one of those liars, so they couldn’t be as bad as she let him believe them to be.
Similar to Rose’s story, there was the aspect of romance involved except that Lea seemed to care for whoever she was talking about, which was a good thing. Unfortunately, love was never strong enough to overcome things like sickness or the unlucky event of a vampire that came looking for an easy snack, which ended any hopes of holding a normal relationship with anyone. Jasper wondered if her resentment of her family came from this feeling of disappointment that no one was there to protect her from the monster that came for her. Naturally, Jasper withheld this question from her as it wasn’t his job to analyze his newest relative on her mental state, but it was definitely okay for him to think about it.
It must have been the hands of fate that drew the second vampire to her that kept her from being completely lost, which could be considered both a good or bad outcome to what had happened. Then her story moved on to what she had been doing since she had been turned, which mainly consisted of talking about her working on her self-control when it came to the thirst. The only thing that Jasper wondered about was whether or not that was meant to be a strike against the fact that his own problems with control, but this thought was quickly disregarded as Lea still fed on humans as he was completely on a ‘vegan’ diet.
“It is good to hear that you are adjusting so quickly to the life of a vampire, but I hope you don’t mind that I have to ask you to make sure that if you are going to continue to feed on humans then to do so away from this area. There are those besides my family who live around here, and some of them wouldn’t like the thought of some new vampire showing up and killing people.” Jasper didn’t want to sound rude, but it wouldn’t be a good for Alice to find a family member only to have the Wolves take her head off. (sorry for the wait on this. been a bit busy with real life)
