Sometimes the pain was just too much to take. Even if it had been six months since Liam's death, time hadn't healed Corah's wounds. She had been crying a lot more since she moved to Forks. With the stress of making money to pay for her new house and working two jobs, it was really hard not to crumble under the pressure sometimes. Most of the time Corah faced the world with a brave face, but tonight was not one of those times. The rain always made her feel glum, and it didn't help that as she was unpacking a few boxes to finish up her moving she found Liam's dog tags. The tears poured almost immediately as she pulled them out of the tissue paper they were in. Her hands were shaking as she looked at them. It was one of the only representations she had of her lost love. Corah took in a deep breath between her clenched teeth, trying not to let out a sob. It really took a lot to hold herself together.
Instead of breaking down inside, Corah decided to go out for a walk. So what if it was pouring down rain? It would match the tears rolling over her cheeks. Once she was up on her feet, Cory grabbed the metal chain of the dog tags and shakily put them around her neck. It was hard not to make a lot of noise, but somehow she squeezed out the back door with out Bennett noticing. He was probably asleep in her room, which was a good thing. If he heard her go out, he'd want to go outside too. Quite frankly, she didn't have the patience to deal with him right now. She looked around her yard, trying to find a place to go to so she could clear her thoughts. Pressing the tags against her chest, she walked off towards the woods.
The rain poured down from the sky in sheets, not bothering to slow up at all. Corah walked along the small little path winding between the fallen logs and shrubs, sobs shaking her small frame. Why did it have to be him?! HER finacee?! Was it not enough for him to be overseas for five months without leave? Of course not. Corah looked up at the sky angrily, ignoring the raindrops that flew against her red and blotchy cheeks. It just wasn't fair. She was angry at God, or whoever was up there. She continued along, tripping over the roots hidden underneath the grass and dead leaves. The loneliness creeped up on her, adding a whole new dimension to her tears. "It was your idea to come here..." She thought to herself, sitting down on a log that seemed semi-dry.
It had been her idea to come here. Corah had been suffocating from the aftermath of Liam's death back at home. Yes, she missed her family and friends deeply but she couldn't bring herself to regret moving to Forks. A snapping in the trees somewhere in the distance brought attention to her, dragging her away from her thoughts. Her heart started pounding in her chest as she looked around frantically. "What the hell was that?! Corah thought, spinning around to look for the noise. Sure, it might have just been an animal but people always said not to come into the woods alone...you never knew what lurked there... Her heart raced at this thought and Corah jumped up, her hand clenching the dog tags of her dead love. She hoped some of his courage would be hers as she tried to go back towards the house. The sadness and loneliness from earlier was gone, replaced with fear. That feeling melted into terror when she felt a cold and surely unnatural hand grasp her arm, tightly and pull her backwards.
It was like a horror movie, and Corah was left helpless but to watch. She screamed with all of her might as the strange...whatever he was took advantage of her. Corah screamed and pleaded with him, salty tears freely rolling down her face. The man just looked at her with a grin and violated her further, leaving her feeling nasty and worthless. He surprisingly didn't cover her mouth, knowing that no one could hear her. Corah's voice became hoarse and weak from the screams, powerless underneath this rock hard creature. Her screams turned to loud, shaking sobs as she closed her eyes and tried to ignore the pain of the bruises on her body. Surely it was hopeless. Corah believed she was going to die, and by the cause of....whatever the hell it was.

He had no idea why he was in forks again as he rested his hands inside having found the place boring not that long ago. He had hoped to find some other vampires that he could lure into his cause but had mostly given up mostly finding those he came across as boring and not worth the time of day and would be heading back to the castle the next day unless something changed. he needed blood and was tracking a human intending to drain them dry the moment that he caught her but then something else came up a vampires scent and he suddenly took off after the smells as they got closer and closer to each other cursing. He would do all he could to make sure that took his meal without going through hell to get to it or at least he hoped.
As he got close he noticed them and frowned the girl was struggling and it bothered him for some reason. He knew that he was to late as he moved forward and grabbed the vampire and tore him apart in seconds and burned the vampire as he closed his eyes and sighed kneeling down by the human and helped her sit up and removed his shirt sliding over her body “there” he said softly and picked her up like she weighed as much as a feather “lean against me I’ve got you” he carried her away from the burning pile of vampire in his arms “he wont hurt you again” he promised the vampire was dead so she would be okay as he took a breath and calmed himself slightly debating what to do with her as he should just end her life with a bite but he was curious as he watched her for a few moments and then found where he had been staying in the forest where he would not be found easily as he opened the door and walked inside holding her still.
Walking inside he made his way into the bedroom and laid her down and walked over grabbing some cloths of a female he had killed a week before and laid them down near her “they maybe a bit big but they should work” he said simply “theirs a shower if you need it as well I will be in the living room if you need anything don’t try and escape you wont like what happens your safe now if you run you lose that” he walked out leaving her there and went to where he had brought some blood in case he needed it and drained two just in case. He still had to decide what he would do with her weather he wanted to keep her around or if he would kill her strangely undecided he cleaned up and went back to the living room and sat down as he closed his eyes and took a breath as he waited patiently his hands resting inside of his pockets as he turned on a baseball game to keep his mind off of things.

Just as soon as she thought it was too late and death would soon be greeting her, Corah felt the weight leave her body. Her eyes only opened when she heard a sound like.....ripping metal? Her green eyes met with another man, ripping apart the man who had just violated her. Her heart thrumming at an impossibly high rate now. She clutched at Liam's dog tags that were around her neck, a new wave of adrenaline and fear washing over her. What was this? Some sort of horror movie that she was trapped in? The man who was ripping apart her violator had the same pale skin...and the same angular features. Corah tried to soothe herself, rocking back and forth on the log, feeling her body go numb.
Corah kept her eyes shut tightly. Her instincts were screaming at her to run away. If she hadn't been in pain, Corah would have. A sigh coming from the second man caused her to jump, her eyes popping open. Her body inched itself away from him, to where she was almost off of the log. "Thank...thank you..."she managed to croak out, her throat hoarse from her screams and sobs. The shirt was a bit long for her arms, but Corah didn't care. When his cold arms wrapped around her, pulling her into his arms, her heart thundered faster. "Please...don't hurt me....
"she muttered so quietly she wasn't sure if he heard her. She leaned against his cold chest, looking over at the smoldering ashes. " He wont hurt you again." he said, leading her out of the woods to a little house. Corah's mind was foggy as he walked her into the house. Her fear was making her heart pound and her hands shake. It wasn't until she was laid down on a bed when she started coming back to reality. " They maybe a bit big but they should work." He said, handing her a set of clean clothes. Corah could only nod in response. " Theirs a shower if you need it as well. I will be in the living room if you need anything. Don’t try and escape, you wont like what happens. Your safe now if you run you lose that." he warned before leaving. After a few minutes of just lying there, Corah got up and grabbed the clothes, making her way to the bathroom. Her mind was only focused on what he had said. "You're safe now..." What did that mean? Corah didn't feel safe. She cautiously undressed, her hands shaking with anger and disbelief as she noticed the nasty bruises covering her body. They were mainly speckled on her hips and thighs, but there were a few on the rest of her as well. She shook her head at herself, tears clouding her vision as she turned away from her own reflection. How could this happen? Surprising herself, Corah calmed down after she had opened a window, the cool air flowing through the room. Her mind played over the events, and although her emotions were unstable, there was a blanket of calm. Losing Liam must have made her stronger than she thought. Corah stepped out of the shower 15 minutes later, still feeling dirty. After slipping into the clothes and making sure they wouldn't fall off her body, Cory gingerly made her way out to the the living room. Her body was more sensitive now, but it felt good to be physically clean. He had put a baseball game on the tv, and she couldn't believe the irony. It was like life had gone on normally. As she approached him, her heart thundered and she broke out of her calm shell. He wasn't human. For someone who was extremely freaked out by the supernatural, Corah had taken it well. Until now. Her hands began to shake again as she sat down across from him. Corah swallowed against the lump in her throat before speaking, the panic in her voice cracking through the calm. " You're not.....hu...human."she stated, fixing her eyes on the forest outside. What was he? She would have been blind not to notice the differences. She didn't know what kind of creature he was, but her imagination was making her terrified to find out. It was a good thing she was sitting down, or her shaking legs would give out beneath her. Watching her as she came out his crimson eyes were calm as he gave her a nod to let her know that he had seen her. His eyes picked up that she was shaking and he didn’t pause as he got a blanket and moved towards her “calm down” he said softly and kept his eyes on her as he wrapped the blanket around her being extremely gentle with each touch of her as he looked down and shook his head “are you sore?” he asked her after a few moments and then sat by her slowly his eyes calm “I have decided to let you live…against all my thoughts I will not kill or harm you but you have to work with me and listen I am not a bad person if I was I would have taken you where you laid in the forest…but you have seen to much so I had to choice weather to kill you or…give you something different” he said after a few moments.
She had come to the decision that he was not human and he smiled “you are right neither of us is human” he said and reached out and took her hand and put it where his heart was…but didn’t beat and never would again “I am a vampire one that has lived many years and will never die of old age…we are immortal in most degrees you could never kill me even if you tried as a human” he paused as he reached out and gently pulled her into his arms as they wrapped around her he knew that she had been through a lot and it was trying to comfort her in some way or another as he paused “lay down against me it may make you feel better” he said quietly his hand touching her face gently “I am taking you back to Greece with me to where I stay for the rest of your life…here your parents will think that you are dead but you will be okay…you will never see them again you are going to be saying goodbye to a lot of things I suggest you be ready but not now” he told her and pressed his head against hers.
He rested his arms around her and stroked her hair “we have the best at the castle and you will be under careful watch and guard I will not let anyone hurt you” he said after a few moments keeping his voice soft as he stroked her hair slowly “we will do what you can to be comfortable and perhaps even see the area” he tilted his head to the side as he looked into her eyes and smiled “tell me my dear do you fear me?” he asked simply “you have seen what I can do when needed that vampire was nothing” he said softly as he slowly moved her head to the side and moved his head down and whispered “I could simply bite into this pretty neck and drain you dry…the question is do you trust me to not hurt you?” he whispered and blew into her ear and lowered his head to her neck breathing on it “so simple” he whispered and then lowered his mouth and kissed her neck just to see her reaction.
He had to admit that he liked seeing her squirm a bit as he moved his head from her neck and held her close his hand touching her cheek “welcome to the world of the supernatural I hope you enjoy the stay perhaps with time I will welcome you into it myself where you can be immortal but for now you will be my simple guest at the castle” he smiled at her “perhaps you will thrive or perhaps you will fail I am not sure which but time will tell but for now I will protect you and keep you from harm…do not make me regret it” he hugged her close and paused “have you had anything to eat? I have some food in case humans come by if needed you are more then welcome to have some” he wanted to make her comfortable and it showed as he looked into her eyes.

Corah's heart hammered in he approached her. His soothing voice didn't help much, but judging from his slow and cautious movements, he didn't plan on hurting her. Taking a shaky breath in, she relaxed, or tried to, as he slid the blanket around her slim body. When he asked her if she was sore, she nodded. "Yes, all over."she said softly, nestling into the warm blanket. Her fear was still there, but for some reason she felt that he was trust worthy. Her green eyes followed him as he sat next to her, listening to his words intently. Her heart sped up a bit as she thought about what he could have done. Gratitude slowly crept in past the fear, he could have killed her. He chose not to. "I will work with you...
"she said, looking at his face, his crimson eyes intimidating her. Corah felt her heart quickened up as he admitted to being a vampire. Her mind went over all of the vampire movies and tales she had seen, trying to think of all of the things he was capable of. Her eyes widened as he placed a hand over his unbeating heart. His skin there was just as cold as the rest of him, despite being covered by clothes. The things he was telling her was a bit much, and her shaking hands signified that. As he pulled her closer, her body stiffened. Since Liam had died she hadn't been close to a man at all, besides her family or friends. When he told her to relax, she honestly tried to. She was feeling close to being emotionally drained, and this talk about vampires was just making it worse. Corah laid her head very slowly against his cold chest, the contact actually feeling....nice. Her body flooded with guilt at this, Liam was the last guy to have held her. All Corah could do was keep her eyes locked on his as he touched her cheek. He was taking her to Greece? Why? He had an air of authority to him. She assumed thats where he lived, and strangely, she had to accept it. Come on, even she had to be honest with herself. They would have to keep their existence a secret. When he brought up her parents thinking she was dead, that really struck a nerve. Hadn't she experienced enough death in her young life? Losing Liam was terrible, and it was like her parents had lost a family member since he was so close to Corah. It was the same with Liam's parents. They still kept in touch even though he had died seven months ago. Taking a deep breath in, Corah nodded, not being able to keep the tears in as he rested his head against hers. It was comforting, but she didn't want her family to be pained by yet another death. It was real life, but it just wasn't fair. Corah knew he would ask what was wrong, so she just decided to spill it all out now. " I...don't want to put them through that...' her voice breaking at the end, a soft sob coming through. It had been so long since she really opened up about it, to anyone. " After Liam died....They'd be so devastated....I know I don't have a choice...I'll just have to deal..."she managed to get out, somewhat coherently. She had become stronger, and what was she supposed to do? Say no to a vampire? That wasn't going to happen. She did have to admit, it was comforting that he was going to take care of her. Her emotions were so over the place that she couldn't even argue with what he had to say. Normally, she wouldn't anyways, but any thoughts of it were gone. When his crimson eyes locked onto hers, Corah was frozen. She felt like a bird trapped in the eyes of a snake. It was a pretty accurate comparison. " I...I'm beginning not to.."she admitted. Sure he could drain her, and she was very afraid of that, but she was starting to feel a tiny bit comfortable around him. She had to fight the urge, and hard, to not have a panic attack. Supernatural things never settled well. It was a good thing she had an empty stomach or she would be throwing up and shaking worse than she already was. But regardless, he did save her from another of his kind, and protected her. If that made any sense. Her body stiffened in his cold arms as he talked, her heart racing. When he mentioned that he could drain her, she jumped a bit. This was not pleasant...and she was beginning to get a bit irritated. " I....don't think you would hurt me.." she said, her body stiffening again as he blew in her ear. That was the truth, she didn't think he would, but she couldn't misplace the doubt that was filling her mind. " Please stop." Corah snapped softly after he had kissed her neck. She didn't like the kiss at all, especially not when it came from a complete stranger. " My fiancee is the only man I was ever comfortable with doing that.."she explained, her chest rising and falling a bit faster. It had struck a nerve, and she didn't care who he was, he wasn't going to violate her if that's what he was after. That had just happened, and vampire or not, she wasn't going to let it become a second time thing. She calmed down a bit when he mentioned her living for forever. That was an interesting thought, and her intrigue overtook her anger. " I won't make you regret it..."Corah said, trailing off, realizing she had never caught his name. " I guess we didn't exchange names. I'm Corah Jackson.' she said, a bit awkwardly. A slight smile came on her face as he offered her food. " Even after all that's happened, I am hungry. Thank you for the offer." she said, relaxing a bit. His sincerity made her feel more at ease, and she looked into his eyes. She was a surprised when she didn't feel fear as she looked into them. Well, not as much fear. It was more mixed with acceptance and uncertainty now. She had a lot of questions, but she was more concerned with getting something in her empty stomach at the moment. Watching her as she tried to get comfortable as she said she was sore he paused and removed his shirt and slowly wrapped his arms around her he slowly rubbed her shoulders and sides. His touch being extremely gentle as he held her finally “better?” he asked softly hoping his cold skin would help her as he stroked her hair and gently pulled her head to his shoulder his hand resting against her cheek as he ran it through her hair for a few moments as he listened to her “your safe” he promised her and let her up and went and cooked her something to eat it was simple but would do as he walked back inside and handed it to her and smiled lightly “haven’t had to cook in over a hundred years it was fun” he admitted after a few moments.
He had seen the tears as he thought things over and reached over and touched her cheek brushing the tears from her eyes “if I put trust in you then don’t make me regret this” pausing he watched her and took a breath “you will tell them someone offered you a great job offer in Greece and that you need to recoup and will take it…when in Greece I wont hold you from contacting them as long as you do not tell them the truth…perhaps even find a small place where you can be comfortable and have them over for Holidays and visits between you both” he stayed by her as he leaned back and paused “you wont have to fake your death…I can see you have been through a lot and wont let things upset you more…” he closed his eyes and shook his head “I am here a few more days before we will have to leave…enjoy them hit the beach your not my prisoner and will have freedom” he said after a few moments.
He paused as he stood up and stretched slowly and watched her “when your done I will try and use some ice on your sore spots…it maybe a bit of help you’ll be sore for a few days but it should not be that much trouble” he handed her the remote and paused “make yourself at home” he touched her cheek and ran his fingers along hers “I know this is a lot to take in if you have questions just ask” he closed his eyes almost seeming to fall asleep as he leaned back and relaxed stiff as well…a dead body. Being a vampire he was most comfortable in this way as he tilted his head to the side and inhaled the scents around him as he tried to relax even now he was almost tempted to drain her but held back somehow as he inhaled her scent enjoying how it tempted him and he licked his lips.
Some days he wished that he could just sit down and relax and now that he had the chance he was not about to let it end. No now he just wanted to enjoy her company “tell me about yourself what is your story?” he asked her after a few moments and swallowed a lump in his throat as he turned towards her again “you seem to have so much on your mind so I am curious as to why you are so hurt and who that boy you whimpered his name is about” he chuckled quietly knowing he would have her sooner or later he was not sure as he paused “when you are done if you want you can lean against me…my cold body may help the sores” his voice showed kindness as he opened his eyes and smiled “and no we do not burn in sunlight…I will have to show you what does happen sometime” he grinned at her trying to lighten the mood somehow.

As much as she didn't want to admit it, his cold body did ease her tender and bruised flesh. Corah leaned against him, allowing herself to relax. He wouldn't hurt her, or at least he said so. From the assurance in his voice, she chose to trust him against her better judgement. Letting her soft body relax against his cold, stone one made her close her eyes. It was odd laying in a man's arms after a year of being alone. Corah had been left to stay at home, forced to act like things were normal when Liam was overseas for five months. Nothing was ever the same after he left on that plane. The memories tended to haunt her, but in this moment she blocked them out. Her over worked mind was tired anyways, no use bringing up any more emotions. She already felt emotionally and mentally burned out. "A bit, thank you." she said, not bothering to open her eyes. Corah sat their quietly as he stroked her hair, her mind blank for the first time since arriving here. Sitting at the table, Cory looked over at him, laughing softly at the irony. A vampire cooking for a human? When did that ever happen? It was likely never. She thanked him for the food and ate it rather quickly, she was hungrier than she had thought.
As she laid back into his arms, Corah did feel safer. In no way was this normal, but it felt comfortable for the moment. Strangely, Corah felt herself tear up at his words. He didn't have to do this, he could just make her go with the fake death story. "Thank you....I couldn't bear to hurt them..I swear to you, I won't disappoint you." she said, hesitantly moving a hand to rest on his jawline as she looked into his eyes. She wouldn't let him down, she owed him for saving her life. Gratitude flooded through her as she moved to a more comfortable position in his arms. He handed her the remote and she flipped through the channels, finally settling on the travel channel. It had always been her favorite, and currently a show about European cruises was on. It only served as background noise to their conversation, but Corah didn't mind. "I think that will help. I'm glad that I won't be sore for too long, I feel like a cripple." she said laughing softly.
Corah nodded at his statement, letting her mind wonder of what questions she might have. In all honesty, there weren't a lot. She knew they drank from humans, and she had to fight a shiver from running down her spine. What about the things about the garlic and the sun? Did he sleep in a coffin? "Do you sleep? Do any...erm, certain objects affect you..like garlic or a wooden stake? Or are they all myths?" she asked vaguely, feeling embarrassed about asking ignorant questions, but she honestly wanted to know. She figured Hollywood was wrong, but she just wanted to know. Her mind drifted back to what she had said earlier about not wanting to hurt her family or Liam's family, the food in her system helping her function like a normal person. As he asked about her story, she nodded swallowing the familiar lump in her throat. It would be difficult, but she was looking forward to telling someone all about it, finally. Corah had tried to tell Lucy, but she didn't feel quite comfortable enough. She hated being vulnerable. In fact, she was vulnerable at this moment but when he saw her naked in the woods as well as the fact that she would be staying in Greece with him for possibly the rest of her life, she didn't care so much.
"Well, I'm 19 years old and I'm originally from Pennsylvania. " Corah began, looking out the window, trying to distract herself from the emotions. "I had a good childhood although my family and I moved around a lot. We ended up moving to Pennsylvania when I was 3, after my younger sister was born. I grew up there, and when I was in high school my best friends introduced me to her older brother... "she said, having to clear her throat and blink at the tears. " Liam and I dated for eight months before getting engaged. He was a solider in the army and got deployed about two months after we became betrothed... " she said, having to close her eyes and take in a few deep breaths. She could do this. "He was overseas for five months...and he was supposed to come back the next month, but...he got killed...in action." Corah said, her voice growing very soft as tears wetted her dark eyelashes.
Corah had to take a few moments to gather her composure, running her fingers over the metal dog tags on her collarbone to help. No matter how long she lived, she wouldn't take them off. Or at least not put them back in the box again. "I was a wreck after he died...he was my everything. My friends and our families tried to cheer me up...but after something like that happens, it really changes a person. " she said softly, knowing he could hear her. " I couldn't take it any more...people were always just treating me with sympathy, acting like they knew how I felt...They treated me like some abused kitten or something.. "She said, her voice growing stronger with a bit of anger. "I ended up skipping my first year of college and when I couldn't take it any longer, I picked Forks as my new home via the 'dart to the map' method. " She said with a soft laugh. " I moved here in March..and that's my story. " she finished, looking back at him, her eyes still a bit watery. She laughed at his comment and nodded. "Yes, you'll have to sometime. " she said softly. That would be interesting, if they didn't burn, what did they do?
