Rachael let out a loud, annoyed sigh. Paul had been a complete ass to her all night, and she just wasn't going to stand for it. Grabbing her keys from his counter, she bolted out of the house to her car. She watched as he came running out of the house to stop her, but by the time he had even gotten close she was already tearing out of there. She and her brother did carry very similar attitudes. So it didn't take much to get her angry. Flipping on her blinker, Rachel headed down the road. Hopefully someone was home. All she needed was too talk to her brother. At least he would listen to her.
This had been the first time she and Paul had ever fought. She could understand he was a male, but to have nude gals under his bed irked her. She was beginning to think she wasn't enough. 'Those are old, Rachel. Don't leave.. please.' She could hear his voice echo in her mind. It was hard leaving his place, but she had to prove a point. Having that kind of stuff was a no-no in her eyes. Adjusting her rear view mirror, Rachel had noticed her turn coming up. She wasn't turning back now. She was already home.
Pulling up into the driveway slowly. Rachel shut the vehicle down. There was no sigh of Jake's truck or even her fathers car. "Really?" She complained, kicking the dirt. She knew she couldn't always turn Jake on Paul every time he had messed up, but this time she really need him to talk to him. Even if he wasn't looking at them like he said, he could have ditched them. Searching through her keys, she found the dead bolt key. Sticking it in the key-hole, she slowly turned it opening the door. No one had been inside. It was actually somewhat quiet, besides the television Jake had left on in his room. Closing the door behind her, she hung her purse over the back of the chair.
Standing completely still, Rachel heard footsteps coming from upstairs. Obviously no one was home. Looking all around, she grabbed the fire-poker just in case it had been a burglar. It was the only way she could defend herself. After all, she didn't have Jake or Paul around. Peering up the stairs, she slowly made her way up. Listening to everything that was going on in Jake's room. Had she been going insane? No! Absolutely not! Finally reaching the top of the steps, Rachel made her way to the bedroom door. Her heart racing as she reached for the doorknob. "You can do this Rachel." She said taking a deep breath. And without any hesitation, Rachel opened the bedroom door. The fire-poker still in hand.

Leah rolled over to… nothing. Well shit. She knew Jake couldn’t stick around, but part of her kind of hoped he would anyway. She had stayed over again last night, partially because she liked being with Jake and partially because she didn’t want to go home. She would have never thought there would be a time in her life when the comfort of her bed just wasn’t comforting, but without Jake there, that’s exactly what it was… or… wasn’t, anyway. She didn’t really expect anyone to be there. She had heard Charlie’s car come up and pick up Billy for fishing bright and early in the morning and had fallen back asleep almost immediately. At that time, Jake had been there. How he’d managed to wiggle his way out of her death grasp she didn’t know. Maybe she moved in her sleep. She thought she’d fallen asleep with her arms wrapped tightly around him. Even in her dreams they were together. Probably, she was a bit obsessed. Or maybe just glad that things were working out between them, even if she did have to keep it a secret.
And what a secret it was to keep. Difficult didn’t even begin to describe it. Leah watched herself around everyone now, though some of the paranoia had worn off. She made sure that she wasn’t on the same shifts as Seth, and when there was Cullen house duty, her mind was always wrapped up in her imprint or what she would make for dinner or things she needed to get done so they wouldn’t wander to Jake, which was probably a bit peculiar since Leah’s mind used to be on Jake quite a lot, but no one seemed to notice the change yet. There were fewer shifts with Jake as well, only because she was afraid they might think about something that had happened the night before and if they were around the Cullen house she didn’t want to get jealous over his imprint. Renesmee was a thorn in Leah’s side. Then there was the sneaking around. Leah had to admit that that part was kind of exciting, it was something forbidden that they were doing and that was sort of intriguing, though she was quite certain that the fun was something that wouldn’t go away between her and Jake because they were always teasing each other anyway. And the secrecy would get old. Keeping the secret was already taking a toll on the wolf.
She decided it was probably time to get up. There was an assortment of clothes all over the place, some hers, some Rachel’s, mostly Jake’s. Depending on what the plan was for that day, Leah would dress accordingly. It seemed to her that Jake’s room was messier with her staying there, probably from their lack of wanting to clean paired with the adding of clothes whenever Leah came over and forgot to take hers back home. As she looked around she realized that all of hers were dirty. Well crap. She threw on a pair of white short shorts and a bluish tank top that was Rachel‘s, unless Leah had forgotten what she‘d brought over. Then she started sorting the clothes because there was really nothing better to do. Jake’s clothes in one pile, hers in another, and Rachel’s in another. Soon she heard a car pull up and someone unlock the door. She froze, wondering if Jake had come home, but it wasn’t the sound of Jake’s vehicle Leah had heard. She could already hear footsteps coming up the stairs, so she grabbed the closest thing to her, which was an alarm clock, ready to throw it though she knew that she could probably take down a burglar if that was the case. When the door open she jumped and screamed. “Holy mother of Jesus, Rachel. You nearly scared the piss outta me!”

The door flung open hitting the wall. With her eyes slightly shut, Rachel let out a high pitched scream. There in front of her stood Leah, with an alarm clock in hand. It was obvious they had both frightened each other. Holding her hand tightly to her chest, Rachel let the fire-poker drop. Her heart still racing as she leaned up against the side of the door frame. Leah was the last person she had expected to be in the house. It was rare that anyone would be in the Black house besides her, Billy or Jacob. Letting her hand fall, she turned to look over at Leah.
A small light chuckle escaped her lips as she watched Leah shake in horror. "I'm so sorry. I just didn't expect anyone to be home, ya know?" Bending back over, she picked up the fire-poker and made her way over to Jacob's bed. She was still a little shaken up from it also, and she wasn't about to hide her fear. "I thought a killer was in the house, to be honest. So i grabbed the fire-poker and headed up the stairs. Then, here I find you, in Jake's room." Grinning from ear to ear, She placed it in the corner and got back up. Her eyes focused on Leah's as she looked at the pile of clothes that didn't belong to her.
Making her way towards the door, she motioned for Leah to follow her downstairs. After that scare, she definitely needed a drink. It wasn't the first time she had though of a burglar being in the house, or even possibly a killer. She wasn't like her brother. Rachel was a normal human being just like everyone else she knew, or thought she knew. There was no way she could transform into anything and defend herself, it just wasn't possible. The nearest object she could find in her house was considered her defense.
Opening the fridge she grabbed herself a beer and made her way over towards the sofa. Her long bronzed leg crossed over her other as she let out a loud, relieving sigh. "If you want Leah, you can grab one." She spoke, pointing to the fridge. Rachel was never one to drink, but right now she was in need of something to calm her nerves. Looking back over to Leah, she found it somewhat odd that she had been staying the night here. It wasn't like her nor Jacob to get along as well as they are now. Taking a quick sip, she began to grin. "Sooo, you like staying here?' Trying her best to get something out of Leah, Rachel began to bombard her with question after question about her and Jacob. They did seem to be getting close.

It took a couple of seconds for Leah to recover from the surprise of Rachel. The wolf should have been paying more attention to her surroundings, maybe she could have climbed out the window or something. She didn't know how she was going to explain to Rachel why she was here... in Jake's room... wearing what was probably the human's clothes, not that she thought Rachel would really care. Leah actually liked Rachel a lot, and had the girl not gone to college they might have hung out a lot more than they did. But now it seemed as if Leah's life consisted of patrolling and sneaking around behind everyone's back just so she could be with Jacob. Of course, she wasn't going to complain that much about it because she loved Jacob, even if it was a little crazy, in a strange way, she thought they were perfect for each other. Leader and Second in Command of the same pack. Strongest male and strongest female. That made sense. It was how the animal world was supposed to work.
“I didn't mean to scare you either, and I certainly didn't mean to make you think someone had broken into the house.” She smiled and looked at the woman who was one of Jake's human sisters. It was nice not to have to hide who she was from Rachel, since the human had been imprinted on by Paul, the whole werewolf thing was out of the bag, which meant she knew what Jake was and she knew that Leah was Jake's second. It was easier to be around Rachel because of that, and it made Leah a lot less bitchy. At least, when it came to just hanging out with Rachel alone. When there were other people involved, Leah tended to ignore them and gravitated more toward the people who didn't thoroughly piss her off. Rachel was one of those people. “I thought you'd be with Paul though,” she said as she followed the human down the stairs and to the kitchen.
Leah opened the fridge at the offer of a beer and pulled one out. She wished she could tell Rachel everything about her and Jacob, but she didn't think it was particularly a good idea to say so much. She didn't think Rachel would intentionally tell anyone, but Leah and Jake had sort of agreed to keep things quiet. “It's easier staying here than at home right now. Seth and I aren't getting along well, and Sue is always running around with Charlie, sometimes at the Cullens. I think think they're gonna make their relationship official soon, which isn't going to be all that pleasant. But after Harry died...” Leah shrugged, not wanting to talk much about her father. It still killed her inside and she felt wholey responsible for the man's death. “Anyway, Jake lets me sleep in his room. It brings me a lot less stress.” She wished she could tell Rachel how much she loved the human's brother, how she would do anything to be near Jacob, but it was common knowledge that Jacob had imprinted on Renesmee, so until all that was worked out, she could really say anything, though she wondered if people were beginning to figure it out. Her story, while not completely a lie, had its flaws. Like how Leah had her own room and really didn't need to be around Seth.
“So, why aren't you with Paul? He being a royal dick again?” She smiled, trying to cheer Rachel up.

Tossing her bottle cap into the trash, Rachel made herself a seat at the kitchen table. Her long dark black hair lightly skimming across her back as she pulled out a chair for Leah. It was nice to actually have someone there to talk too that wasn't male. Even though she had Leah didn't talk much before, she felt like making it right. Rachel was now getting in close with her brother yet again. Bringing the bottle to her lips, she let out a relieving sigh. Her dark brown eyes moving from the long neck to Leah. She could obviously tell there was more going on between her brother and her. Rachel wasn't that stupid.
Rachel let loose a small grin, reaching out for Leah's hand. So maybe he did let her stay here sue to stress. She could see why. All those men in the "man pack" were nothing but a bunch of women, bickering and nagging at one another. "I understand, trust me. I can only handle being around them for so long and I just want to hang myself." Chuckling, Rachel grabbed her beer again. It tasted more than refreshing. And for some reason, it relaxed her. Why? She knew why. The oxidants was more like a stress reliever to her. "And don't worry about the whole startling me ordeal. I'm getting used to this." Plenty of people had been popping in and out of her house now for the past couple months. Well, ever since she had gotten home. So it wasn't that un-common.
As soon as Leah brought up Paul, Rachel shook her head. It was complicated between the two of them now. It seemed his temper had always gotten in the way. Taking another sip, she looked back to Leah. Her eyes drifting off as she looked out the stained glass window on the door. What was she thinking? Relationships were so not for her, but then again she had found some sort of connection with him. And the feelings, they were beyond explainable. "It's just.. weird." She began, curling her finger up into her hair. "Paul is always gone at night, and then sometimes he comes home in a good mood. But others, he is twitching and tossing in his sleep screaming about blood suckers?" Yes, she was more than confused. Rachel had no idea about the whole pack ordeal. It wasn't something she was allowed to know about. At least not yet."What does that mean?"biting her lip, she began to spin her long neck in circles. Trying to figure everything out.

Keeping her relationship with Jake a secret was a lot harder than Leah thought it would be. Sometimes she forgot how nice Rachel was... and observant. It was going to be a bit tricky to keep things from her, especially since Leah could see herself being really good friends with Rachel. And just great, starting a friendship off of lies. Okay, so it wasn't a complete lie. Things were hard at home right now. Leah and Seth just weren't getting along and she was afraid that if she spent too much time around her brother he would figure out that there was something between her and Jacob. But the same could be said for Rachel. She was sure to know that her brother was up to something. In Leah's defense, she had assumed that Rachel would have been at Paul's. Even so, it probably hadn't been the smartest thing to sleep in so late, even if they were limiting her time shifting and even if they were trying to keep her away from Seth as much as possible. Seth just stressed Leah out anymore and the last thing she needed was to find out that there was something more between her and Jake. Of course, Seth knew how Leah felt about Jake, but if she was in wolf form at the same time as the alpha, there would be some questionable thoughts going through their heads.
“Try having them inside your head. It's a literal headache. I swear, that much testosterone just doesn't belong in a woman's mind.” She laughed and took a drink of her beer. She thought it was funny that she was probably the oldest in the pack and also probably drank the least amount. Well, besides Seth, though Leah couldn't be sure Seth was still as sober as he was before. Her brother could have grown a third eye and Leah probably wouldn't have noticed because of how little she saw him. And she blamed it on Seth, of course, because of how he'd acted toward her and completely disrespected her. Not to mention she hadn't forgiven him for what he'd said to her about how she was practically making him her slave. The thought had her wanting to throw or punch something. Being in the same head as Seth would definitely not be a good idea right now.
Leah was a bit surprised that Rachel didn't know what a bloodsucker was. She let out a sigh and drank the rest of the beer, then threw away the bottle. “I can't believe Jake or Paul hasn't explained everything to you. The rules are supposed to be different for you. You aren't a normal human.” Obviously, Leah was frustrated. She debated with herself for a moment. It wasn't really her place to say anything or explain it all, but she really did think that Rachel needed to know. And Jake hadn't specifically said that they needed to keep her in the dark. And there was Paul for crying out loud! And Jacob was her brother and just so happened to be an alpha. She was the only person living in the house that didn't know anything about this stuff.
“Rach... you... may want to sit down...” Leah leaned up against the counter and bit her bottom lip, trying to think about where to start. “Okay, so, do you know what your brother is?”

Spinning her beer on the table, Rachel let out a soft relieving sigh. Of course she missed spending the night with Paul, but sometimes she had to take a break for a bit. It had been her first ever serious relationship with a man and she wanted it to be right. Not one of those short couple of months ones. Rachel looked over to Leah who was somewhat on the edge of her chair. She could tell something was up with her, but she didn’t know exactly what. After her comment about the bloodsuckers, it seemed Leah didn’t really want to make much eye contact with her. Did she think Paul was crazy too? Hopefully she wasn’t the only one that had thought of that.
Rachel found herself nearly jumping from her seat as soon as Leah brought up something that she had thought the boys hid from her. “They haven’t told me anything.” Shaking her head, Rachel got up and out of her chair fast. Normal human? What was that supposed to mean? Last time she checked, everything on her was normal. Not one thing morphed or nothing. Making her way back towards the fridge, Rachel opened it and snapped a beer from the back. Was Paul hiding something from her? And hearing that Jake was a part of it really tore her apart. She always told Jake her secrets. Even if they were god-awful. Not one thing did she hide form that boy. “And what rules?”
Picking up her hair and pushing it to the other side, Rachel began to somewhat pace the kitchen floor. What on earth had been going on in this house that she didn’t know of. Maybe she had just been over working herself by thinking to heavily. It had been months since she had last went thinking-bonkers like this. Listening to Leah telling her to take a seat, she did. But it was hard for her not to stop fidgeting with everything around her. Maybe Paul had another girl on the side. Or possibly a child that he wasn’t informing her about. No, that couldn’t possibly be it. The word’s “what your brother is” filtered her mind as she widened her eyes to the max. The worse popped through her mind as she tossed herself back into the chair.
“He’s gay, isn’t he?” Crossing one leg over the other, she rolled her eyes and placed her hands over her face. Muffling her voice as she began to speak. “He and Paul have a thing don’t they? And I’m just a lab rat to him.” Letting out a deep breath under her hands, she let them fall to her side. Lifting the bottle to her lips, Rachel shook her head once again. Why did it always have to be her with the shitty luck? Why not Rebecca? It seemed like it had always been that way. Ever since she was a child.

As her suspicions were confirmed, that no one had told Rachel anything about what they were or what they did, Leah's anger level rose. Okay, so she had a bit of an anger problem. It wasn't really her fault that she was under a lot of stress... Well, the sleeping with Jake was at least half her fault. The hiding it wasn't something she wanted to do, but something they also couldn't really get around with the whole situation with the Cullens. “I'm going to kick both their asses.” The words were almost mumbled, but definitely understandable. She was sure, at this point, that Rachel probably would have kicked Jake's ass herself if she'd been strong enough. As it was, Leah was probably strong enough, but one little command from Jake for her to stop and she'd have to, not that she thought Jacob would use that against her. Leah took a seat across from Rachel, and put her hands on the table, trying to figure out how to best word what she was going to say.
It was then that Rachel said something that had Leah laughing. Probably not the most mature thing to do, but Leah couldn't help it. “Definitely not gay,” she said in between laughs. “Believe me. He is so not gay. And Paul is probably the straightest guy I know.” It took a while for her to regain her composure. It was just too funny. She'd have to tell Jacob that he was now a flaming homosexual. Leah didn't have anything against people who swung that way, it was just funny when applied to Jacob, especially since she happened to be sleeping in his bed most nights. But it hit her that if Rachel didn't know what Jacob was, then she probably didn't know what Leah had meant earlier by having all of them inside of her head.
“Okay.” Leah took a deep breath and tried to calm herself down. “Well, Paul is definitely not using you as a lab rat. It has absolutely nothing to do with his sexual orientation, and if Jacob is gay, he's hiding it really, really well.” She bit her bottom lip and looked around. Now she understood why they probably hadn't told her. This was just so effing difficult. What if Rachel just ran? She wouldn't put it passed anyone – it was a lot to take in. She sighed and looked at Rachel, trying to figure out just how to say what she needed to say. It wasn't enough to say that all the tribe stories were true. But she wouldn't let Rachel find out about Paul after a fight about him being out late or something.
“The reason Paul is out late, is partially my fault.” Leah held up a hand before Rachel could assume that she was sleeping with her boyfriend. “There's a reason he hangs around with a bunch of testosterone-filled guys who look like they've taken steroids. He's sort of like... like a security guard for the reservation. I'm sort of his boss, and Jake is sort of my boss.”
This wasn't coming out right. The way Leah said it made her think about an unofficial police force. “He... Jake and Paul... and me for that matter... and a few others... we're... shifters. Like, werewolves, only better because we're way more in control of our shifts... usually.” She thought about what Sam had done to Emily. Okay, so maybe they weren't always in control. No need to worry Rachel about that, though.

It was more than a relief to hear that Jacob and Paul were not gay. Nor gay together. A sigh of relief escaped her lips as she looked back over to Leah and sat her bottle down. It was time she began to ease up on her booze as of now, or she would end up drunk before she had even knew it. Go Figure. Another awful hangover in the morning due to Paul and his stressful tactics. That's just what she had needed. Thoughts of Jacob being gay came storming across her mind. A small chuckle made its way out followed by a loud roar. It was funny to her, in a way. But Paul being gay, would kill her. Well, then again she might kill him since, well, they have done things and it caused her to loose her innocence.
Taking another quick swig of her beer, Rachel followed Leah's laugh also. Okay, so maybe it was funny to the both of them. A small cramp made its way into Rachel's side. Quickly grabbing it, she began gasping for breath. It wasn't the booze making her act goofy, but It was the fact she had someone to spend time with. Someone besides the males race. "That was too funny, Leah." Raising her beer in a toast, she gently tapped Leah's glass and began to drink the rest of the bottle. AA wouldn't help that girl now. All the stress from the move really wore her out, on top of Paul constantly being gone. But she was beginning to get used to it sadly.
As Leah explained about Jake being her boss, and Paul being late because of her, she raised a brow in confusion. Of course she didn't know what she had meant. And honestly, it scared her. The first thing that crossed her mind was a mob, but they weren't mob material, so she knew that was far from out of the question. "Security guard? And your damn right they all look like they are on steroids." Trying to make a laugh, Rachel noticed Leah wasn't joking around. She was serious, but what did she mean? Placing her beer to the side, she retested her head on her hand and looked directly at her. Now she was more interested in what was going on. But most of it just didn't add up.
Rachel's heart sank to the back of her chest. She didn't know what do to. Running and hiding wouldn't do much good. Shaking her head and trying to comprehend all of this, she looked over Leah. Her eyes as wide as the possibly could get. What was she supposed to do? Sit there and take it as a joke? This was all real! Getting up and out of her chair, she walked back over to the fridge and began to feed her alcohol need. Why was this happening to her? SHe lived a normal life. Just like any other girl her age. And Paul, well, in her eyes he was normal too. That was her boyfriend. Why didn't he tell her before. "Oh my. So, they... aren't.human?" What on earth was going on? Dropping to the sides of the counter, she kept repeatively shaking her head no. "But they won't hurt me? You said they wouldn't!" She looked lost. What was she to do.
