Hearing her opinion about the ring and baby finances, Jake placed the ring down and looked up to Leah. If that was really what she had thought and wanted, he was willing to hold up and wait on the ring until they had everything done and set for their unborn child. Even though it was itching at him to supply her with an engagement ring, he handed it back to the jeweler. All he wanted was for her to know that he had meant what he said. Of course he would still have feelings for Renesmee, that was his imprint. But he knew nothing would ever become of that. Not now, and possibly not ever in his or her lifetime. If he had ever decided to go back to her, Jake had the feeling that Leah would end up taking the child far from him. Then again, he knew that would never happen. He could see how much she had loved him, and knew she would never do a thing to hurt him.
Leah was the carrier of his child, and now his fiance. Deep down he knew he was moving with increasing speed, but he didn't care nor did he want to think of it. This was his life, and he was making it final. Jake could see the fight now between the Packs and the Cullen's. IN a way, he feared for some of their lives. Even though they had seemed so nice and caring to everyone, Jake knew Bella was new at this vampire junk, and didn't know how to quite control her anger just yet. God only knows how she could handle anything. Especially now that Jake had tossed her daughter to the side as far as relationships. He wasn't going to completely disown her. She still meant allot to him. But, after this was all said and done, he already knew what was bound to happen.
Looking back at the rings, Jake let out a small sigh. His big brown eyes in a daze. "As long as you know I mean what I say, then we can wait on the ring for a while." With a small reassuring grin, Jake grabbed her hand and tugged her along with him. Raising his one hand, he waved the Jewelers goodbye and opened the door standing aside. Deep down inside he still wanted to get Leah that ring. He wanted nothing more than for her to walk around with it and show it off. Just to let everyone know that she is taken by Jacob Black. Not that poor excuse of an imprint she had. Jake still felt that he didn't treat her as well as she should have been. It honestly seemed like he was somewhat domineering, and slightly controlling. But that was her imprint. Not his. And there wasn't much he could say about that then, but now, he was finally gone and out of the way.
Opening the truck door for her, Jake stood there for a bit and waited until she made her way back into the truck. Picking up his head, he looked up at her. His smile growing greatly, as he gently rubbed her hand. "I promise you Leah, I'll get our baby everything it ever needs. And then once we are done, I will be back for that ring." Stepping back, he closed the truck door and jogged his way around to the other side of the truck. Opening his side, Jake umped in landing directly on his bottom. It was a good thing that his seats were nicely cushioned. "Yep, that's going to hurt a little in the morning." Not realizing it at first, Jake smacked his tail bone on the side of the seat. Trying to shake it off, Jake shoved his keys in the ignition. Gently, he pushed down on the clutch and turned the key starting up his big diesel Chevy. "Well, what should we do now?" He asked, looking to the clock. "Hopefully you don't have a bed time." With a giant shit eating grin, Jake released a small wink.

It wasn't that Leah didn't want a ring, that definitely wasn't what was going through her mind. In fact, she'd love to go around bragging that she was the one Jake had chosen. She'd like Sam to get an earful of that, though she hated to admit that to even herself. Sam had been a part of her life for a while, and it still hurt that he had imprinted on her cousin Emily. It was probably why Leah was so uptight about the Renesmee situation. She had lost a man to imprinting before and she was terrified that it would happen with Jacob. If it were up to Leah, they'd pack their bags and move their families far away from the Cullens. Other vampires, well, sure, she'd live around them if she had to, so long as the little half-tic wasn't there. She could deal with other leeches. Well, she could after the baby was born. Leah'd already shifted in the last month, so she knew it was possible, but she didn't know how good it would be for the child growing inside her. She could fight the leeches after she gave birth. Leah hadn't thought pregnancy for her would be possible, so she wasn't going to risk this on a shift if she could help it. It would pose a little problem, since she would have to come up with some reason she's not on the patrol schedule and she did have that temper of hers that made the shift hard to control sometimes.
But they had this baby to worry about and that was way more important to Leah than a diamond on her finger. Odd, most girls probably wouldn't have let Jake (or any guy for that matter) walk out of that store without buying something, but then again, Leah wasn't most girls. She was a shifter for one, and that was just one of the things different about her. Sure, she could be a bitch and all, but she knew it and didn't hide that fact. And she could also appreciate Jake's truck instead of just oogle at the pretty paint. She could appreciate that Jake had added things to it, she could appreciate the sound it made when they were driving, the soothing sound of the engine. Most girls on the reservation just liked it because it was Jacob's; they knew if they saw it, Jake was probably inside.
In any case, a ring wasn't near as important as the intention behind it. She got herself into Jake's truck and leaned back against the seat. “I mean it, Jake. We don't need some ring to tell people what's going on.” She sighed and rested her head on the back of the seat. “I just don't think, especially if I'm going to be growing so fast, that we'll be able to hide anything. And I'm sick of it. I'm really sick of sneaking around my family and the pack. It doesn't feel right. We shouldn't be ashamed of it. I know we're going to have hell to deal with, but it will be worth it, won't it?”
She turned her head to look at him for a moment and then snorted. “Please, you're the one that's practically a kid. Makes me feel like I need to be on one of those lame-ass Dateline shows meetin' up with Chris Hanson.” She smirked and looked back out the windshield. “'Course, I can think of a few things that would involve a bed that doesn't involve sleeping.”

Jacob watched as Leah sat back in the passengers side. He could tell that her mind was a little more at ease knowing that she was the one he had chosen of the two. Even though he still had fairly strong feelings for Renesmee, Jake forced himself to put them in the back and leave them be. Gripping the steering wheel cover, he began to turn the wheel back and forth, grinding his swamp tires over the black top. A vision sat back in his mind of him and Leah starting an actual, somewhat normal, family together. And oddly enough, this was the happiest he had even been in a long time. But as soon as the Cullen's find out, Jake knew he was in for a world of hurt, and possibly heartbreak.
Letting out a soft sigh, Jake's eyes began to glaze over just a bit. He could hear the frustration in her voice about hiding everything. She hadn't been the only one that hated that idea, Jake had dreaded it also. That was his child, and he had to hide it from the entire world? He knew if he could, the boy would be running house to house, knocking on everyones door, and screaming in their faces that he was bound to be a dad. And a damn good one at that. Grabbing her hand softly, he gave it a little shake followed by one of his infamous smiles. "I will be telling them all soon." Glancing down to her stomach, he released her hand and placed his on her growing belly. Chocking back the tears, he bit his lower lip. It wasn't good for a grown man to cry in front of someone he loved. It actually made him feel more like a girl, and somewhat gay?
Anger filled his face as he thought about the Cullen's fighting with him and Leah. He wasn't going to let that happen. Without paying any attention, Jake let the tears swell up and drift slowly down his cheeks. "If those damn bloodsuckers think they can harm us after the news gets out and around, they have their form of thinking all out of whack. No one will hurt my child, nor my companion." The anger kept building its way up, filling his head with god-awful thoughts on what they could do to them. All he could hope for was the pack to back him up all the way. He couldn't fight them alone. And he wasn't about to have Leah help.
Attempting to clear his mind of all the thoughts, Jake couldn't help but chuckle at the remark Leah had made about dateline. Yes, he was younger than her, but not by too much. A couple years was nothing to him. And in a weird way, he felt much older than her. But that was only because he was male. And being the way they are, they tend to think higher than they should. Pushing the clutch in, Jake began to shift gears and squeal out of the parking lot. Hopefully no one was at her house. After disguising the bed, Jake happened to be all for "cuddling" with Leah. After all, it had been weeks since they had last seen each other. And what more damage could he do now? It was pretty much already done. "Well, I don't care if Seth you Sue is home or not! It's been a while, and i think we should just lay in that comfortable bed of yours and 'cuddle' Quoting it with his fingers, he looked back to her and grinned.
Turning on his blinker, Jake turned down Leah's road. It had been months since he had last been back this way. It seemed she was always at his house now. Then again, he could see why. They stress was something she didn't need. There in front of the truck stood her house. Beautifully decorated as always thanks to her mother. Bringing the stick all the way to first, Jake shut the truck down and turned to Leah. "See, I would just run into your house with you, but my fear is of your narcissistic mother." Chuckling, he leaned over the center council, and laid a small peck upon Leah's cheek.

Things were going to get better, Leah had to keep telling herself that. Of course everything was going to be difficult right now, but that was going to change. Leah would be damned if she was going to let her child grow up having to deal with all the shit that was going on right now. She was afraid that one day their child might ask her who that little girl daddy sees all the time is. That would just be great. She could already hear the child going Why does daddy need another mommy? Why does daddy leave us sometimes? The thought just made Leah want to bend her body in half and throw up. But she was in Jake's truck, so that would be highly inconvenient. Besides, it was odd, but she wasn't feeling really very sick right now. Maybe because she hadn't actually eaten much because there hadn't been an opportunity for it. She felt like a cow sometimes, but she figured that it was mostly just her shifter side reacting to having to get nutrients to a baby. Shifters ate a lot as it was and she didn't know any who had had children. Not any females anyway.
But Jake was assuring her that he would tell everyone soon. Leah took a deep breath. Everything would go to Hell when they let this out, but it needed to be said. They couldn't hide a baby forever. Leah didn't want to hide it. They shouldn't have to hide it. They were going to have a baby and that was a real miracle. Leah had been sure she wouldn't be able to get pregnant. And sure, this had come at not such a good time for either of them, but they'd get through it. Leah was sure that no first time parents were ever really ready for their kids to be born. It didn't matter that the two were still very young. Both of their bodies had grown to full potential because of the shift, and they were technically both adults. Leah watched as Jake's hand moved to rest on her stomach. She took a breath in and tried to make her stomach seem as small as possible.
He started talking about how no one was going to harm their child, or Leah. It was reassuring, since Leah knew that she'd always have some jealous feelings (though she doubted she'd ever admit to that) toward the stupid little hybrid daughter of the leeches. But she hated to think of Jacob dealing with the Cullens all on his own. She thought she knew the Cullens fairly well, though she didn't like them. The only reason any of them would react would be if the mind reader and the girl Jacob used to love were angry about what was happening. So what were their chances? She didn't know how Charlie's daughter would react, but she thought the mind reader would be both furious and over-joyed. The Edward bloodsucker hadn't been too happy about the imprint... then again, neither had Bella. But they'd come to live with it. What would they do when Jacob told them that he was not only leaving Renesmee, but was going to be with Leah and take care of the baby he fathered?
It was almost like Leah had zoned out because the next thing she knew they were sitting in front of her house. She felt Jacob's kiss on her cheek and sighed. “I don't care if Sue or Seth is home. If we're not keeping this a secret then it shouldn't matter. And Sue's going to find out we've slept together when she knows about the baby, so there's no point in postponing it.” She turned her head and returned Jake's kiss on her cheek with one of her own on his, and then got out of the car and walked to the front door of her house. She could tell before she entered that no one was home. “Sue and Seth aren't here,” she said, sounding a little disappointed. Truly, she had hoped that Sue would be home. Leah wanted the comfort of her mother. Sue would know what to do about this whole thing. Sue probably already had her suspicions about what was going on. She didn't care if Seth was there or not. Seth stressed Leah out too much lately because of the whole Lucy issue. Leah didn't care if Seth never knew he was going to be an uncle.
She looked back at Jake, waved for him to follow her, and then walked to the kitchen. “You hungry? 'Cause I am.” She took a frozen pizza out of the freezer and popped it into the oven, then leaned on the counter, looking at Jake. “You're not going to like this,” she said, taking her time with her words so she could think before she spoke. “But when you tell the Cullens, I want to go with you.” She was almost positive this wouldn't go over well with Jake. It looked like he was going to be protective, and he should be. She knew it was better for the baby if he was concerned. “I just think it would be better if you weren't there alone.”

Everything was beginning to cave in and the couple months had seemed to pass by. There had only been a few more week's left of Leah's pregnancy, and Jake was beginning to get the jitters. It wasn't everyday that someone like himself was able to become a father. And a damn good one at that. Rolling over in his king sized bed, he noticed Leah laying there peacefully. Just like he had imagine in all of his thoughts. They were finally in their own home. All their bother's from the other two households were gone, and now they were able to focus on one another and their child that grew so rapidly in Leah's beautifully round belly. A yawn filled his face as he raised his arm to stretch. It was always like Leah to lay on his arm, merely cutting the blood flow off completely. But he didn't blame her. He too loved being close to her.
Pushing the covers back lightly, Jake slowly slipped his way out of the bed and over to the master bathroom. It was a nice good sized, yet cozy house that the two had purchased. Perfectly fit for them both and their unborn child. Even though it had looked small on the outside, the inside was rather large and spacious. The upstairs roomed three bedroom's and two baths. One in the master room, and one in the hallway for anyone who had decided to stay. The first floor had yet another bathroom, and a guest room/ computer room. Thoughts had crossed Jake's mind about making it into a playroom, but that had to of been left up to Leah. It was her home also. The family room and dining room had been split off by a wall, only leading to one another by a swinging door. Inside the family room was all the essential's and same with the kitchen. As far as outside, it sat on a lovely 43 acres. Just enough for the two to take a little run on.
Flipping the bathroom light on, Jake looked out into the field. It was nice, and yet so quiet. He didn't have to hear his sister's loud mouth, or his father complaining about not having housework done anymore. It was his house, and supervisors weren't necessary. Lifting the lid on the toilet, Jake dropped a stream still gazing out his backyard. In a way, everything was perfect. This is how life should be for him. Not having to wait for a young hybrid to grow into a woman so that he could end up starting his life. Dropping the lid, Jake flushed the toilet and flipped the light back off. There he found himself standing at the foot of the bed, looking at Leah. He couldn't help but watch her sleep. To him, it was relaxing and it calmed him seeing her so happy and peaceful. She had meant everything to him now. That was his soon to be wife.
Making his way back into bed, Jake slowly slipped his arm over her stomach and pulled her closer to him. Even though she didn't like the way she looked in the morning, Jake enjoyed it. Gently, he rubber her belly, placing his ear close to it just so he could feel the baby kick and move. Deep inside, he could feel his heart begin to flutter as the baby rolled, gently brushing his cheek. It was interesting to experience life. And yet, so beautiful. With a big smile, Jake made his way up towards Leah, pulling her face towards his and kissing her softly on her lips. His one hand still laying across her belly. "Good morning, beautiful. You going to wake up or do I have to get you up?" A chuckle escaped his mouth as he gazed down at her.

Sleep didn't come easy anymore. Leah was always uncomfortable these days. Her belly had grown dramatically over the last few months and she wished she'd had time to get used to the pace. There were aches and pains from being bent slightly backwards from the new extra weight so she wouldn't topple over. She remembered shifting restlessly in the bed until finally just after two in the morning she'd fallen asleep with her head using Jake's arm as a pillow. Dreams weren't particularly welcoming all the time either. Despite the fact that the initial argument with the Cullens was over and things had settled down quite a bit, though she thought the little tic was still overreacting over everything, for crying out loud she was just a kid. Sometimes her dreams were fine – images of their future family playing in her head, or just her and Jake running through the woods as their wolves, which sometimes made Leah sad when she woke up. She'd be glad when she could shift again without worrying about harming the baby.
But tonight had been one of those less that great nights. Her dreams were filled with everything she worried about. What would happen when the baby was born. The scenes in her head involved even more trouble with the Cullens. Then there was a whole mess of questions and fears. She was absolutely terrified about giving birth, and then afterward, she was afraid that she wouldn't be a good enough mom. And then there was the fact that the kid would have absolutely no chance of being normal. She'd told herself this over and over both in and out of dreams. Face it, Leah, it's got two shifters for parents. There's now way this kid isn't going to be a shifter. She knew what Seth would say. Doesn't it depend on vampires? The female wolf had tried to let that comfort her, but the truth kept gnawing at her: vampires were everywhere, so even if it did depend on the bloodsuckers, there was no way they were going to be able to move away from them all. And that meant that Leah wouldn't stop shifting because she'd want to protect her kid, and hopefully, eventually, kids. If she was cut out for this, she'd want more. Of course she would.
The good thing about going to sleep was the waking up part. Leah had gotten used to, very quickly (though sleeping over at each others house all the time might have had something to do with that), waking up to Jake... usually him waking her up. Like now. She smiled as she realized that she'd been taken out of her dreamland to the touch of Jake's lips on hers. She blinked and let her eyes adjust while she stretched. Just woke up and already the baby was kicking. She ran her hands through her hair, feeling that it was a mess, tangled and all that. Leah wasn't a big fan of looking like a mess in front of Jake, though she did like that he didn't seem to care much about what her hair looked like in the morning. She also liked that she could wear comfortable sweats and Jake didn't seem to think differently about her.
“Morning.” Her voice came out in a whisper. She leaned up and put her arms around him. “You might have to get me up.” She smiled and kissed him on the cheek. More kicking inside her belly, her hand went to rest on her stomach and she sighed. “Can't be much longer now. I'll probably pop any day.” She breathed a laugh at the thought. Pop. With the way she looked, that might be exactly what happened.

Jacob couldn't remove his hand from Leah's soft, and yet so plump, stomach. It was his first child. Possibly his only child, since he never knew what could happen after this. She wasn't supposed to have children in the first place, but they both were fooled. Now she was hauling around an extra forty pounds to her small waist line. After waking her from her slumber, Jake looked over to the calender. The months had went from weeks, to day's. The anticipation drove him absolutely nuts! There wasn't much he could do now, but play the waiting game. Which he hated more than he could explain.
With one of his cheeky grins, Jake kissed her gently yet again. His giant brown eyes couldnt help but focus on her and her only. Goodness, he couldn't even explain the love he had for this girl anymore. It was more than anything he could have even explained. But the best explanation for it, was it happened to be stronger than what he had felt for that hybrid tick, Renesmee. Ever since his departure from them all, he found himself growing closer to Leah and further from his imprint. She wasn't shoved anywhere in his mind anymore. All he could do lately was plan and set up his child's room. Which was much more important than trying to balance two relationships.
"Well, I think we should get you out of bed and down to get something to eat. You know how the Doctor keeps telling you to eat a three coarse meal." With a small chuckle, Jake jumped over on the other side of her. Really, he didn't want to get out of bed. It just seemed so perfect to just lay there. But the more she didn't get around, was the more pressure she happened to be applying to her hips. "And plus, I doubt you want any bed sores." Constantly smiling at her, he grabbed her hand and pulled her up to where her back was perfectly straight. He knew it hurt her, but their wasn't much he could do. They tried everything possible, but it seemed she just kept constantly getting bigger and bigger. It was different. Her stomach was much larger than any other normal belly he had seen. But then again, he didn't think much of it.
Hurrying over to the closet, Jake grabbed her slippers bringing them over to her. Yes, hardwood floors did in fact get cold and he just wanted her to feel as comfortable as possible. Looking her over again, Jake raised a brow. "Have you noticed your stomach is just a little bit larger than normal?" It had seemed to Jake that in the past twenty-four hours, her stomach had expanded more than it should have been. Shaking his head, he slipped her slippers on like the good boyfriend he was, and grabbed her hand yet again to lift her off the bed. He could begin to feel her pain as he just watched her move and talk. In a way, it was heartbreaking to him. He had never seen her like this in his life.

Jake was really more than Leah would have thought to ask for. She knew she complained a lot - this hurts, that’s uncomfortable, and so on. Leah tried to keep the complaining to a minimum, but sometimes it was just too much. She hadn’t expected her stomach to grow this fast. Sure, she knew things would be different, but this different? Leah knew she was lucky to be having this baby with a guy who could put up with all that. Jacob was really understanding when it came to all this. She hated that she complained because she knew it did something not entirely positive to Jake when he knew she was in any sort of pain. Even in pain, though, she was smiling.
Leah unconsciously made a bit of a face when Jake told her they should get up. She really didn’t want to start the day. The days meant being uncomfortable and Leah just wanted to go back to sleep. But on the other side, if she was awake she could look at Jake all she wanted. “Oh, fine.” She put her smile back in place despite being uncomfortable from moving. “I could use some breakfast anyway. And I thought it was almost impossible to be even hungrier than a werewolf. Being pregnant definitely takes the cake on that one.” She watched as Jacob brought her slippers and slip the slippers on her feet before she took his hands and stood up. She could have probably waddled into a standing position, but it was easier with Jake’s help, though she wouldn’t admit it. She figured he had probably already guessed as much though.
She looked down at her stomach. It really had grown a bit more than was normal in the last day or so, but then again what about this pregnancy was normal? One of her hands went to rest on her stomach and she shrugged. “Yeah, I’m bigger than I should be I guess. But we knew I was going to get real big real fast.” She smiled and headed for the bathroom. “I need to brush my teeth first.” Leah was sort of weird about that sort of thing. She always brushed her teeth before eating breakfast, mostly because she just felt better when her teeth were clean, like she was ready for the day. “I’ll meet you in the kitchen.”
Their house was perfect for them and every time Leah walked through it she thought about just how perfect it was for them. She stood in front of the mirror and brushed her teeth, then ran a brush through her mess of hair. Well, at least she looked half-way decent now. She ran her fingers through her now untangled hair and then froze. Something wasn’t right. She frowned for a minute, thinking she’d peed her pants. What the hell? That hadn’t happened since she was a really little kid and in pull-ups. So now I can’t even hold my own bladder? She was going to start crying. She started cleaning her little mess up and was in the bedroom changing again when the first sharp pain started. “OW!” She had changed into a blue maternity dress and now she was sitting on the bed.
“Jaaake! I think we should grab the bags and head out!” She got up again when she caught her breath and went to the dresser, pulling out last minute things.

Listening to what Leah had told him to do, like usual, Jake gently kissed her upon the cheek and made his way towards the door. Indeed, she was getting a little too big, too fast. But what could he do really? Nodding his head, Jake hurried down the stairs and into the kitchen. He had always been ten times happier ever since the Cullen's agreed to leave them alone. And making breakfast for his pregnant fiance was something he had enjoyed now. Reaching into the cubard, Jake pulled out a small pan and placed it upon the stove. Egg's and sausage had seemed well, since that was all they had seemed to want to eat lately. Even himself. He always wondered why he had felt her pregnancy symptom's. Even the vomiting.
Making his way over to the fridge, he pulled back the door and grabbed a couple eggs followed by the sausage. "Hmm." He spoke to himself, hearing Leah upstairs rambling around. Shaking his head, Jake turned the stove on, dropping the eggs into the pan. Thank goodness he was a well made out cook or they would have a problem. Leah would possibly end up with food poisoning. Letting out a small and relieving sigh, he leaned back up on the counter. Everything was perfect. Finally. He didn't have to worry about Seth and them popping in whenever they had felt, nor did he have to worry about the Cullen's making unannounced visits. It was just him, Leah and the baby.. 'thud, thud, thud.' Jake stopped in his tracks and looked to the stairs. Withing seconds he heard Leah scream in pain, followed by his name.
In a panic state, Jake hustled up the stairs forgetting about breakfast on the stove. He was more concerned with her safety at the time being. "Coming!!" He screamed, finally making it to the bedroom. There he found Leah scampering through all of their closed follow by the baby clothes. 'Oh no.' Jake thought to himself. Stunned, he ran his fingers through his hair. What could he do? What should he do? Where do they go? That was everything that ran through the back of Jake's mind as he began to dig through more things that they might have possibly needed. Grabbing a bag from the closet, he sat it on the bed, tossing the rest of the clothes inside of it. "Babe, just calm yourself. I don't need you stressing out over this to the point it hurts the baby before he is even born." Yes, he. Jake had always wanted that little boy, and he was determined.
Pulling Leah away from the dresser, Jake tossed the bag over his shoulder and picked her up. He wasn't bound to let her walk such a distance while she was in labor. It just wasn't civil. Hurrying down the stairs, he seen a cloud of black smoke coming their way. Out of fear, Jake placed Leah down and hurried over towards the stove. "Shit!" He cursed, picking the pan up and tossing it into the sink. Sighing, he looked back over to Leah. That wasn't important right now. What was, was the baby and her. Opening the front door, Jake tossed the back out the door, quickly swooping Leah up into his arms. "I'm not letting you walk. Even when we get to the hospital." With a small grin, Jake found himself standing before his truck. Reaching as far as he could, he opened the truck door placing Leah in the passengers side.
His heat couldn't stop racing. He was going to be a dad within hours. Finally. After all of that awful waiting, it was bound to happen. Jumping in the drivers side, he hurried and slammed the truck door, starting the truck as quickly as he could. "What do I do? Do I call Billy and them now? What about Sue?" There he was, rambling like usual when he was nervous. Slamming the truck into first, the truck hopped into gear and began to fly out of the driveway and down the road. "I love you, Leah." He rambled, kicking gravel.

As they shoved things into a bag, Leah realized that they weren’t nearly as prepared as she’d thought they were. Hadn’t they packed anything? Leah vaguely remembered throwing a nightgown in a bag. Oh yeah, then she’d gotten sick and had forgotten to pack anything else. And now there were baby clothes and more nightgowns in that bag, though she was sure she’d probably be in hospital clothes most of the time and when she was screaming out in pain she’d wonder what the big deal about clothes was. But that wasn’t happening just yet and Leah was mentally kicking herself for not finishing the packing. And Jacob was acting like a mad man, shoving things into bags and telling her to be calm. She started to move to the door but before she could get very far Jake was there, picking her up and carrying her.
Until she realized something smelled… smoky. And then she saw smoke. Oh jeeze. There was something wrong with their house! Was it on fire? Jake put her down and went to the kitchen. As it turned out he’d just forgotten to turn off something. He was back in no time to pick her back up and took her to his truck. Leah always loved this truck, but she was realizing now that she’d have to put the car seat in her car. She looked out the front window as she thought about how crazy it was she was thinking about car seats. “Oh. Ouch. Jeeze.” So this was what contractions were like. God did they hurt.
Leah started taking deep breaths, partially because she wanted to stay calm and partially because that’s what you always saw pregnant women doing on tv. She looked at Jake for a minute and then back out the windshield. “Call Sue, tell her to pick up Billy. But I doubt either will be allowed in the delivery room. But first, go put on a shirt.” She tried to control her breathing but it was a bit difficult. She wished she’d been able to go to classes, but she knew people would have been worried with the rate she’d be developing. Anyway, she had Sue and Stella to help her out with that sort of thing.
“We need to get to the hospital.” She paused and then corrected herself. “The Rez hospital. I’m not going to Forks.” Leah leaned back in the seat and when Jake was ready waited until they got to the hospital on the Reservation. Leah refused to be seen in Forks simply because Dr. Fang worked there. She didn’t have much against the guy. Actually, as far as tics went, he was pretty decent. But he was related to the half-tic that had been Jake’s imprint. Just thinking about the girl got Leah a bit worked up and her breaths came out faster.
When they got to the hospital Leah was put in a wheelchair and given a bunch of papers to fill out and wheeled into a room. She wondered if the birth was going to be like a regular human birth, or if it’d go super fast. She knew she’d heal really fast, which might make the doctors a bit suspicious, but she could deal with that later. Another sharp pain. “OW! Damn it! Do these things stop?!” She couldn’t help but get a little upset. After all, she was the one that was getting ready to be in incredible pain. Then there were other things to worry about. She knew that some people got a spinal tap to help with the pain, but she was sure her body would use that up faster than ever because of her body heat. So she’d decided to forgo the medication since it probably wouldn’t help. She remembered Dr. Cullen telling them that Jake’s body had been burning up the morphine when he’d gotten hurt because of her during the newborn war. She wasn’t being broken, she could do without the drugs, especially if they wouldn’t help for long.
Leah got into a bed and put on a stupid hospital gown before she looked at Jake. “Did you get everything out of the truck?” She leaned her head back on the hospital pillow, hating the sterile smell of the room. Another pain. Her eyes squeezed shut and she tried to breathe, not very successfully. After a few seconds that felt like an eternity she relaxed again. Her eyes closed and her voice came out in a whisper. “God I hope this gets over soon.”

The hospital drew closer, and the bright lights of the Emergency Room had been calling their names. It was a scary, and weary thought to think of what Leah had to go through, but Jake found it easy to keep his mind clear. Dropping the truck into first gear, and then park, he jumped out of the truck and ran around to the other side. A couple nurses hurried out the door as soon as he had waved for them to come assist. Grabbing Leah's hand he helped her down and out of the truck. 'Excuse us.' Came one of the nurses scruffy voices. Raising his hands, Jake took a couple steps back and closed the door. Before he could even think about making it the rest of the way into the hospital, he stopped. His feet not being able to push himself the rest of the way in.
Everything he hadn't though about before, was now coming to his mind. He was going to be a father within hours. And now, his life was soon to change. He and Leah would both be parents. Should he be scared? Well, Of course not. After all it is his child and soon to be wife that had just been pushed into that cold hospital. Biting his lower lip, Jake tossed the bag over his shoulder. His hands sweating from the anticipation, and somewhat fear. He now had his normal life. The Cullen's had no longer existed in it at all. Freedom was what he had felt now. All he had to do was push his way into that Hospital without passing out.
Becoming white in the face, Jake began to make is way up to the revolving doors. There at the desk sat Leah, sighing away with papers. Raising a brow, Jake took a few swift steps forward reaching for her papers and handing them back to the nurse. "Come on, She is having a baby not signing autographs!" Grabbing her chair, Jake began to strode off practically leaving the nurses behind him. But luckily as soon as they got to the elevator, they caught up. A slight bit irritated with him for bolting like that, but they made it. Pushing the buttons a couple dozen times, he began to run his fingers through her hair hoping it would calm her down. Yet again, Jake had to calm down first. He could begin to feel his legs quiver with more anticipation as the elevator opened. There they found their way into a dark, yet cozy laboring room. The curtains happened to be a light shade of brown followed by a trim of pink.
After getting Leah into the bed, Jake sat the stuff down grabbed her hand gently. Watching her face cringe in pain, sent chills up and down his back side. This isn't how he had wanted her to feel. And now, he was beginning to blame himself for all of this. If he didn't do what he had did, this would have never happened. But he wasn't about to take any of that back now. His son was on the way. Or, well, daughter. No one knew, really. "Yes, I grabbed the bags and everything. You just need to take a breather, Leah. You and I both have a long night ahead of us." Which was very much true. He didn't know how long her labor would be. It could be hours until his child came into this world. Lifting his hand, Jake placed it on her forehead. He could feel the small sweat droplets begin to drip as she gripped anything she could to relieve herself from contractions. "It will be over soon, the Doctor is on his way in." Looking all over, he noticed a small man making his way to their room.
A small knock came at the door. Jake removed his hand from Leah and stood up straight. In came walking a rather small, stocky man with a white coat, and blue slippers on. The man placed his hand on Leah's knee and gave her an assuring smile. "Good Morning Miss. Clearwater, looks like your going to be a mother soon." Patting her leg gently, he walked over to the monitor and read off her contractions. Yes, they were fairly close to one another, and the time was coming. 'I see your water has broke, and the nurse told me you are five centimeters dialated, would you like and Epidural or no?' Jake looked the man over again. Epidural? What on earth was that? Making his way back up to Leah he grabbed her hand. "It better not hurt her, or my child." Of course he was worried about her safety. It was what he had to do now.

It was as if Jake had never been to a hospital. If she wasn’t in pain, she might have laughed. Then again, it had been a while since Leah had been in a hospital and she probably looked just as clueless. She had been too young when Seth was born to remember much of anything about what Sue had been through. All she knew was what she’d been told. Well, and what she’d seen on tv. That didn’t look too promising. She knew better than to believe everything she’d seen on tv, but at the same time, she couldn’t stop replaying some of the scenes where the mom died. When those passed through her head all she could think was I really can’t leave Jake to take care of this kid by himself.
Jake assured her that he’d gotten everything out of the truck, another reminder that the safety seat would have to go in her car, and not too long after that the doctor walked in. Leah’s first impression of him was something along the lines of I really don’t want a midget looking man to be looking at my expanding vag. He was a small man, someone she didn’t think she’d seen on the reservation. He looked married to his work, which meant he better be good. Still, she was uncomfortable with anyone else looking at her, she didn’t even go to her annual womanly checkup because of it. Why couldn’t she have had a female doctor? She didn’t want any guy other than Jake looking at that particular area of her. And even then, she’d rather he’d not be staring at that area of hers.
Another contraction. Jake had moved close enough that she could grab his hand, so she did and squeezed, probably harder than she’d intended to. She cringed for what seemed like an eternity and then the doctor told her she could have an epidural. “It wouldn’t hurt the baby, or me… usually…” but she shook her head anyway, mumbling something low enough that Jake would hear but not the doctor. “It would only burn off with my body heat this high anyway.” There was no point in having a few minutes of pain free bliss just to be knocked right back in to reality.
The doctor nodded and stepped out, probably to prep or something, Leah didn’t really know. It was probably a few hours before the doctor came back in. Leah had been really quiet, dealing with pain and worrying about what to do once this was all over. She really hoped they wouldn’t have to stay in the hospital very long - the doctors would notice if she healed faster than a normal human, and they might want to inspect the kid. What if her baby aged faster because of the shifter gene? She knew the child was going to be a shifter at some point; its parents were both wolves, the kid had no real chance at being normal. What if she randomly shifted into a wolf during the delivery?
Shorty, which was what she was calling the doctor now privately, took another look at her. Leah felt blood rushing to her cheeks. She might be pregnant, but that didn’t mean a lot of guys and seen her naked parts. He made a sort of noise and then looked at her face. “Get ready. We’re going to have to deliver.” Leah pushed for what felt like forever. She remembered yelling a few things, some to the doctor, some to her baby-daddy. Things like “You push a baby through your vagina and then tell me to breathe!” “I’m going to break your neck if you tell me to calm down!” and various threats about Jake sleeping on the couch and never seeing her without clothes again.
Finally she heard the cry of a baby and heard a nurse tell her that it was a boy before Shorty looked at her and nodded. “A little break before the next one comes out.” Leah practically jerked up in her little hospital bed, legs till in the metal things to keep them apart. “What the fuck do you mean again?!?!?!” She looked at her stomach, which had shrank but only slightly. “Multiple births” was all he said before Leah plopped herself back to lie down again, mumbling something about how she was sure she was going to die before the night was over.

The room was now packed full with Random nurses coming in and out. It was like an express way. Staying close to Leah, he began to rub her hand slightly, trying to help her ease her pain. Jake watched as the doctor made his way back into the room. A small tray of accessories followed behind him. Multiple scalpels, and small tools. He could feel his stomach begin to turn as soon as the doctor had ordered Leah to begin pushing. Again, he was nervous not knowing what to do next. With a big smile, Jake got down to her level and held her hand tightly. That was all he could really do at this time. "Let's get this over with." He smiled. Yes, thank goodness it was bound to be over. His son or daughter was on his or her way.
Jake watched as the baby began to breech, bringing its head forth. Butterflies filled his stomach as soon as he had seen it was a little boy. Tears filled his eyes, not knowing how to really react. Finally, he had his boy. Going to drop Leah's hand, Jake was stopped. Dead in his tracks. Another baby? His face went pale as he looked over at the doctors for assurance. They had to of been mistaken. There was no way they could have twins! Not now. Glancing to Leah, he looked up to the doctor. "Look, Doctor. Hannah You have to be horribly mistaken." Taking a small step back, Jake found himself sitting in the recliner in shock. 'I'm sure what I am seeing isn't a mistake.' he replied, cleaning off his boy. 'We will give it a small break, but Leah will be pushing again in a few moments.' He still couldn't believe it. It had to of been a bad dream. No one in his family had ever had twins before.
Letting out a deep sigh, Jake found himself staring into the baby nursery. At least he had five minutes to spare and see his first child. And boy was he beautiful. Placing his hand on the glass, he smiled. Now it was time to head back to the labor room, and finish with what they had started. All because of one night of fun, Leah was now birthing more than one baby.Pushing open the door, Jake slid in. His hand reaching out for hers like usual. Pulling a chair up behind himself, he took a seat. "Leah, I'm sorry. I'm sure your really feeling it now." Uh-oh. Yes, he opened his mouth. The best he could have done was sit back and watch it all happen. But what was he to say? Leah had already cursed him out while she was pushing for their first child. What more harm could he have possibly done?
The doctor made his way back into the room yet again, His hand held out like as if he was playing football. 'Get ready for this one, Because I'm sure it's going to be followed by another.' Jake froze up inside. Another? Even after this one that is coming? No! His eyes widened to the max. He was going to hear it now for sure. As if she didn't have to endure enough pain. "No!"

More than one baby. All Leah could think was that she hadn’t signed up for this. She didn’t even think she could have one child. She could feel the sweat dripping down her face and wished she had brought something to tie her hair back with if she was going to have to go through this again. And so soon. She wouldn’t even have a few years to attempt to forget this kind of pain. This wasn’t exactly how she had envisioned her life. Not that she really thought anyone could ever forget something like this. She was just glad that she was going to heal fast. That was one thing she could be grateful about being a shifter. Maybe she’d be able to cut her recovery time down drastically. At the moment, she just wanted to get these kids out of her and go home and sleep. For days. But that wasn’t going to happen. She knew as soon as they got home there’d be work to do, and there would be very little sleeping for a while.
Jake came back and Leah ran her hands through her matted hair that was practically drenched with sweat. It wouldn’t be long now then. “He okay?” Her voice came out a lot softer than she had intended and that worried her a little. Leah was always strong. She wasn’t weak and she didn’t like when anyone saw her that way. She supposed it was okay for Jacob to see her that way, but she didn’t want to startle him or anything. “He’s healthy right? Ten fingers, ten toes?” It was weird that she could think about that when she knew she was going to have to go through all of it again.
The doctor said that there were two more inside of her. In all fairness, he’d told them about the one, granted it was only a few minutes ago, but still. “TWO MORE?!” Oh, God. She really was going to die by the end of this. She could feel the tears running down her face. When she spoke again her voice came out in a strained sort of whisper. “I don’t want to do this anymore.” She realized she was probably going to feel horrible for saying that later, but at the moment, she really didn’t want to do anything anymore. It wasn’t that she didn’t want the kids, it was just that she didn’t want to go through that again. But the doctor didn’t seem to think she had time to think about that right now.
The next two baby births passed in a weird sort of blur for Leah. Not that it happened fast, though the doctor was right, the third followed right after the second. It was just that Leah didn’t remember much but the pain and breathing. She remembered shouting that both the doctor and her fiancé could go to Hell and squeezing someone’s hand probably hard enough to fracture a few bones, but whether that person was human or shifter she didn’t know, she’d just been clinging to whatever she could get her hands on.
She knew there was a lot of blood, but when everything was over she just wanted to lie back and hold on to her babies. She vaguely heard the nurse say something about another boy and a girl. She got to hold them for a moment and then they were taken from her to be cleaned up. Of course, Leah complained. “I want my babies. They’re mine. Give them back.” She kept rambling while the nurse explained that they needed to be cleaned and given exams. Leah felt her face turn into a pout even though the nurse said they would be bringing them back as soon as Leah was cleaned up too.
That was when she looked down at herself. “I’m a mess.” She could already feel herself healing, stretch marks disappearing and her stomach tightening back up. Though it wouldn’t be noticeable to humans for a few hours, she knew Jake would be able to tell and she could most definitely tell. As soon as the nurses and doctor were out, Leah turned her head so she could see Jake. “We can’t stay here long. I’m healing already and if they keep me too much longer someone will say something…” She bit her lip and started to get out of bed and walk to the little bathroom that was attached to the room and started washing herself with a rag and water.

Jake watched as he stomach began to deflate rapidly, and the blood flow was now beginning to stop. Leah was practically healing on her own. Then again, Jake knew that would have happened. They were practically indestructible. Thinking quickly, he listened to her words on getting out before they could catch on. Quickly moving around the room, he began to gather all of their things, shoving them into the bag. Jake found himself stopping a couple of times to look at her. She was still beautiful. Even more than before. She was mother of their children. And yet, she was still strong. Grabbing the small lotions and stuff the hospital had already provided for the children, he tossed them in the bag also. Followed by a few more things they didn't really need at all.
Placing the bag down, Jake walked out into the hallway. He had to see his children. It was a must. Finding himself standing before a glass window, he watched as they cleaned all three of them up. It was so soothing. The youngest happened to be the girl, who would not stop crying. A smart comment came across his mind, leaving him in a small chuckle. She definitely looked like her mother. Jake let out a small sigh and looked beside him. There sat his father. A smile that didn't seem to want to leave his face. A small pat came across Jake's back. 'I'm proud of you, son. Finally a man, and a father of three beautiful children.' Jake watched as his father began to tear up. His hands trembling as he placed them upon the glass. Yes, Billy Black did cry. His grandchildren laid before him in small beds. Jake nodded and smiled. "Damn right. And it feels good to be a father." Biting his lower lip, Jake laid his head down.
Tears of joy filled his eyes as he found himself collapsing to his knees. His life was finally in place. All the fighting he had to go through with the Cullen's had seemed somewhat over. He had his soon to be wife, and loving children. Jake knew, just like Renesmee, his children would grow quite rapidly as well. But that was no problem for him. Homeschooling was a must. If any of it had gotten out, he knew for a fact he would be shunned from his town. Possibly even killed. It was always an option. "I love my family, dad. I'm so glad she came around. Or I would be stuck messing it up with a baby hybrid!" It was true! His life was actually somewhat normal. At least he and Leah had heartbeats. Along with the two boys, and girl. 'They are beautiful Jake. You are feeling what I had felt with the twins and you.Now you better go on and get you and Leah out. Get those birth certificates all filled out and hit the road.' Billy was always close with his son. And even in a situation like this. He would never leave.
Getting up off of his knees, Jake hurried down the hallway. Making his way into the room, he noticed the nurse standing there with the certificates of birth. 'Where is Ms. Clearwater?' She asked confused. Of course, she was in the bathroom, but Jake wasn't going to let the nurse see her. Grabbing the pen from her hand, Jake smiled. "She is in the shower, and feeling much better. I'll put the names down for you." Grabbing the paper also, Jake sat down in the chair and began to fill out names. It was a good thing he and Leah had talked about it beforehand. He wasn't about to get his ass ripped. On the first paper, Jake jotted down Their first son's name, and then the second one, followed by their young girl. His heart pumped faster and faster. It just happened. The nurse pulled the paper away and began heading out the door.
In a strike of fear, Jake opened the bathroom door, and motioned for Leah. "Grab Gracie, and I will get Bentley and Aaron." Tossing the bag over his shoulder, Jake pulled Leah over to the bed and made her sit down. The small carts began to roll in, bringing forth their children. The nurse nodded and made her way out. Three car seats sat off to their left followed by Billy and Susan. Of course, they had to be there. It wasn't going to be that easy for the two just to split like that.
