Demetri sighed as he drove towards Port Angelous his eyes closed, he had been in the area a few months with Libby. The two having a home outside the city and had peace which was nice. The two were close as he had found her a friend…a business partner and now he had taken her as a lover. He had been debating the next step for awhile debating if she was ready a part of her was not there and he had spent the last two weeks a bit worried about her but shook it off. Parking the car he got out and walked up to the book store.
He had always loved books when he had been human and even now. Preferring westerns he would spend most nights when he had been in the guard or even now with Libby reading. While she had her scrapbooks he had a collection that would shock anyone when it came to books. Shaking his head he walked up and opened the door and stepped inside. He had never paid a visit to this store only having passed by it once or twice when he had been out with Libby taking her different places while she was out he had decided to pay it a visit.
Checking the shelves he realized that he needed a basket and went to get one and started to shop. About fifteen books later his head snapped up as he caught a scent…one that he realized from the past and cursed… they had been lucky to avoid these people since he had moved into the area but he knew it would only be a matter of time until he ran into one or more of them. He had been tempted to go and talk to them before but had been cautious that he would not walk out alive…he had to look after Libby after all he thought she would be lost without him.
Walking around the corner he saw her and his mouth twisted into a smirk as he stepped up behind her “Bella…Bella…Bella” he whispered quietly “look what the cat dragged in it is nice to see that you survived your first year” he chuckled calmly as he watched her a amused look on her face “though…you may want to listen to what is going on around you better” he chuckled “wouldn’t want any accidents would we?” he asked his crimson eyes watching her.

Books were just part of Bella’s life and since Forks library had a really slim selection and people had insisted on it, Bella went to the book store in Port Angeles. Most people would have had concerns about coming back here. This was the book store that Bella had been trying to find when she was still human, but hadn’t made it to because she’d gotten a bit lost in the dark and run into some people who were trying to… well, not do some good things to her. Bella shrugged it off though if Edward knew she was here he’d probably have tagged along. She didn’t know why Edward was so overly protective of her, but she was glad he hadn’t come. She got a little embarrassed sometimes when people were with her while she was shopping for books. She got way too into it and went into her own little world. Besides, she wasn’t human anymore, she could take care of herself.
She had been there for a while and she smelt a familiar scent. Well eff. She sniffed the air to make sure no one else was around. No. They were the only vampires in and around this store. Good. She might not have been a tracker, but she still had the ability to smell those around her. At least it wasn’t Alec or Jane, not that either of them could do anything to her really. In fact, she was almost sure that she could take them since she figured they relied so much on their powers, which didn’t affect Bella in any way because of her shield. Demetri on the other hand could probably take her, but he wouldn’t without the rest of the Guard, she hoped anyway. Didn’t mean she was letting her guard down.
But instead of seeking him out, she decided to just stay put and mind her own business. There was no need to get involved with anyone from the Volturi if it could be avoided. Still unaware of the Volturi fall, Bella assumed that even if Demetri was alone here, more of the Guard would be around town somewhere. She continued to sift through books, adding to her little basket. Wuthering Heights was, of course, in the pile already having used hers so much that the cover had come off and some of the pages had fallen out.
He came up behind her and started speaking. She just let him speak, not physically acknowledging his appearance until he was done. Her face was still straight and showed hardly any emotion. She wasn’t happy to see this vampire by any means, but she wasn’t going to start anything either. But that didn’t mean she had to be polite. “How would you know what I was and wasn’t listening to, Demetri? Do you think you’re so special that any vampire would seek you out?” She put another book in the basket and picked up another to start reading the back cover.

He would have laughed if he had found her sarcasm amusing and if he had a sense of humor that he showed at least. Instead a cold smile came to his lips as he watched her “my apologies ms. Bella Swan or is it Cullen now? I lose track of your names over the past few years since I last saw you I hope you and your family are well” he rolled his eyes as he watched her his hands inside of his pockets and watched her “really my dear I am surprised at how hostile you are as I have not laid a bad finger on you…yet” he said simply and stared at her he had whispered the last words knowing their were humans around he kept his voice low knowing she would have no trouble hearing him.
Finding a place to sit across from her he watched her his crimson eyes on her golden ones “ah but how far can one fall my dear Isabella?” he smiled though their was a hint of sadness in his eyes for a second it quickly vanished. He had been one of the top ones not that long ago and now he had quickly found himself the lowly nomad. Even though he had Libby he knew that he wanted more even now. He had grown to attached to her and knew it but shook it off. He wanted what he had once taken for granted and then it dawned on him “you don’t know do you?” he asked her with a smile “its such a shame really what your family does not see coming…I can only hope your dear gift will be enough now” he whispered a small laugh coming from his throat.
He had no love loss towards her as he watched her the sly smile coming to his lips “they are coming Bella…there is no safety this time it is a battle that you cannot win” he chuckled as he watched her and stood up and walked towards her and leaned forward and planted his lips to her ear and whispered simply “its over Bella I suggest that you enjoy what little time you have left before you realize” his throat gave a small chuckle “that your world is going to crash down all around you” a smirk came to his lips as he watched her and moved away “and my dear…you’ll see the Volturi are the least of your worries” he laughed and moved from her.
He knew he had dangled the meat in front of her and now he wondered how she respond “enjoy your day ms swan” he moved away from her and picked up the books that he had set down a few moments before and turned towards her “if you want to know more feel free to ask I am not leaving for awhile…as I have found myself more of a traveler as of late” he said simply and picked up his books before he turned to leave.
