Gwendolyn Taylor looked around the school yard, the same school yard she had seen for the last 5 years of her life and she hated it, LOATHED it even, this was a place where she was an out cast. Never treated fairly any more since the jocks and all had discovered about her mother and she had receded from most people since her brother and father had been deployed to Afghanistan to fight the stupid war.
Just thinking of the father she loved and the brother she adored made her feel queasy and angry. It was the governments fault they were fighting in the war, what if her dad was hurt? or her brother was shot down... she didn't even want to think about it, not even the possibility. Ok so they had Carla, their step-mother. It was just her and her sister left of her family now back home here in this dreary sodden town.
She sighed as she spotted a group of Jocks eyeing her holding water balloons and screamed when one hit her, scrabbling to her feet with her sodden hair, her tank top (which unluckily was white) was beginning to gain a see through quality so she rapidly pulled her leather jacket tight over her top, her skinny jeans were also sodden but luckily they were black. Unluckily she had chosen converses and so now her feet were also drenched. She scowled and then screamed again as two more balloons impacted on her, one hit the side of her head, soaking her hair and the other hit her stomach hard, drenching her jacket even more, god how she hated them so much! The teacher wasn't even doing anything, Mr Mc'aber was just standing there shaking his head!
She quickly retreated as the jocks all took aim and was hit with their barrage, her scream just fueled their laughter, it was a scream of shock, rage and longing. She just wanted to escape all of this, ever since her bloody mother. It ALL came back to her mother, the drugged up b****. She had come back after so long and ruined Gwen's life so utterly, she had been accepted once, before her mother and now she was on the sidelines, the one who didn't fit. She was a gamer chick yeah but that wasn't it, half the guys in the school digged a girl who shared their hobby, no it was her mother, the lunatic in the loony bin with a drug addiction.
When the Jocks redirected their attention to Tom, the poor boy whoa actually had nothing wrong with him she slipped away into the toilets where she stared at her self in the mirror and began brushing out her red locks, until they were straight as an arrow and empty of balloon wreckage then she dried her hair with her hand towel and brushed it again. She looked at her shirt and sighed, now she would need to seal up her black. loose leather jacket and she tried desperately to dry her jeans and shoes. When she had finished she stood, only slightly damp as her top was drying now but it was still slightly see through and she moved out of the bathroom as the bell for their first lesson went and she tried to slip in amongst the crowd unnoticed but still they managed to get her!
Before she realized what had happened her chin hit the floor followed by her nose which started pouring with blood, her books spilled everywhere out of her back pack and she just lay there as they all laughed, her anger simmering away under the surface as she did so, they just were not going to leave her alone, they laughed and kicked her back, scattering her magazines out across the floor, magazines like the X-box 360 magazine and PC gamer today. Great, now they were laughing even louder. She would not be able to live this down either then she squealed as they dropped their last water balloons all over her, her books and her journal which contained her latest works! All of the character notes and sketches, all of it would be ruined now!

The day had been bliss. She’s skipped PE and math class, resulting in her having an even longer lunch break. She’d been sitting out on the bleachers with a group of friends, just joking about. She also felt great; despite how late she’d stayed up with… was it jack? Anyway, one of the guys on the football team. They weren’t really her type any of them. They were full of crap, and she had never heard one decent word come out of their mouths.
but her day was about to turn from something like bright blue and yellow, to annoying read. She could see that now as Tom, a gangly guy in her biology class, stood alone in the school hall, soaking wet and shivering. Poor guy. She was not in doubt what had happened. Water balloons were a big hit around here. She walked over to him in her black flats, denim shorts and KISS T-shirt, and laid a hand on his arm. He flinched before seeing who it was. “Are you Ok?” she asked him, eying him worryingly. She did not tolerate bullying. He mumbled something about him being fine, just a bit cold. He then said that she should go find Gwen, because she’d been a target, too.
She’d hoped she’d find her sister before anything got too far. It was just one of those days when everything went wrong for her sister. When Meg found her, she was sprawled on the floor, her notebooks, magazines and books lay in a puddle of water around her. And was that blood dripping from her nose? Meg was furious. No one got to do that to anyone, especially not someone as innocent as her sister. She didn’t know why Gwen had drawn the short straw. No one treated Meg like that, even though they shared the same mess of a mother.
“What is going on?” she demanded as she pushed through the jackasses who stood there laughing. She bent down and gathered her sister’s stuff before helping Gwen to her feet, holding her free arm tightly around her shoulders. Her eyes found one of the jocks, and she sent him a poisonous stare. Then a cruel smile spread across her face, and she was pretty sure this was as sinister as she got. “Careful there, Sean. Wouldn’t want anyone to know about your secret, now would you?” she didn’t really know what secret she was talking about, or how she was supposed to know, but confidence made anything believable. She saw something flicker in his eyes, and right then she knew she’d done alright. He was the center of attention now. She lead her sister past them and down the hall. “C’mon, Gwen. Let’s go home. I’ll bake some whoopie pies and we can watch old cartoons like we used to.”

Gwen had tried to push herself up only to have one of the cheer leaders kick her and grab her hair pushing her back down, the water was pink around where her cheek had hit the floor and she felt sharp pangs on pain in her shoulder, nose and also her knee. Her knee stung like mad, she thought that maybe the fall had fractured it then she flexed slightly and grunted as another kick caught her ribs.
When she heard the familiar voice of her sister she felt relief swell up inside her but then she squashed it, it never helped. She felt better for a few hours after they escaped but the jocks always got her with something the next day. Once they had taken a set of 5 paint ball guns to her, each with a different color pellet in and shot her all over, she had been wearing a tank top that day with her arms and most of her back bare.
When she heard her soaked books moving she opened her eyes and took a deep breath as her sister lifted her, her breath caught in her throat before she winced and limped away from the scene with her sister, listening carefully she shook her head and whispered "N-not cartoons ... a movie please." before she paused and continued "Why do they target me?" she asked her sister in a pleading manner.

She wanted to go back there and kick their man fruits back to the 18th century, but there was no meaning in stopping bullying with violence. Besides, coming from a family like hers, she’d get kicked out of school, whereas Sean or any of the other bros and hoes wouldn’t.
“No cartoons, eh? Oh well, I guess we can watch, I dunno, Alice in wonderland or something. Or a slasher.” She said with a smile. “And we could stop by the store and get some ice cream, cause God knows I’m craving like hell right now. Ooh, maybe I’m pregnant.” She knew that Gwen knew that she wasn’t even sexually active, but empty talk was better than no talk. It was also the only thing keeping her from castrating the whole football team.
She opened the door and lead Gwen to a bench right outside. “Sit down so I can get a look at your knee .” She ordered and put Gwen’s stuff on the bench beside her. She knelt down and gave her knee a once over before poking it gently here and there. It didn’t feel like anything was broken. “Probably needs some ice.” She diagnosed and got up, brushing off her own knees. She was frustrated, and that made her seem angry. She was frustrated with Gwen for not standing up for herself, and for being invisible, and for everything bad that happened to her. But it was wrong, and she knew she couldn't blame her sister for being who she was. Meg was the one who was a fake, pretending to be someone she wasn’t. Fooling around, getting drunk… she sometimes felt like she was losing it. Like she was becoming a reflection of their mother, and that scared her. Her hands shook and she had to sit down as well. It was quiet now, but it was noisy inside her head and that hurt.
“Let’s just go home.” She sighed and helped her sister up again and headed for the old car that she was proud to call hers. She couldn’t wait to get out of this hellhole.

Gwen knew her sister wasn't happy with the way she just took it all but she couldn't help it, she wasn't the sort of girl to get violent. Violence made her as bad as them and trying to stop it all would lead to violence. When Megan put her stuff down on the bench she looked at it for the first time and almost cried as she saw her note book and she hissed "No all my notes ... the manuscript... all the plots ... everything! All of it!" and she let her shoulders slump, mulling everything over and then whispering "Y-yeah .. Alice in Wonderland. I ... I've not seen that new one yet and ... I don't want to have time to think about what they did to my manuscript .." a years work lost in a flash, it was almost enough to make her revoke her pacifism. While she was thinking it over she packed away all her stuff then her sister helped her up.
Gwen looked at Megan as her sister helped her into the car. She couldn't help but wonder why she had to try and fake things to integrate, or why she had to have attention. She curled up on the seat, shivering lightly as she realized how cold she was but she dared not take off her jacket because her top would still be see through and that meant driving him in a soaking wet jacket.
She thought ahead to the years she would have to work to rewrite her manuscript and she sighed sadly, looking over at her sister and whispering "Three years worth of work ... why do they insist on doing it to me?"

her eyes focused on the road and nothing else as she drove. she shut out everything and let hear head rest. she couldn't even be bothered to listen to her sister-whom she loved dearly- complain over the damn manuscript she'd written that was now nothing but trash. her headache was turning into a lighter pressure on her temples, which was a relief. her mood was getting better as well, but she still kept her eyes on the road, pretending she wasn't listening.even though she tried to channel out, she still kept thinking. you can never really stop thinking, and if you try, you end up thinking about not thinking. yeah, great plan. so she settled with finding ways to make her sister more social and outgoing.
"I should take you somewhere this weekend." she interrupted her sister out of the blue. it was her only solution really. "To a party. There's gonna be lots of fun, and most importantly, lots of people." yes, as she said it she realized what a good idea that was. she wouldn't change her sister, she would just simply make people realize how fun she could be. they had to practice, of course, cause right now, Gwen was as outgoing as a brick wall. "and you can find inspiration for a new manuscript or whatever you're working on. how can you write about stuff you haven't experienced? you see, this is bulletproof." unless Sean or anyone else of the popular kids showed up. which she was pretty darn sure they wouldn't, seeing as they didn't belong to the same gang. they weren't the same type of popular.

Gwen frowned when her sister didn't talk or even acknowledge her until out of the blue she blurted out about taking Gwen somewhere like to a party. Gwen's mind froze, a party. She would be bullied and picked on out of school if she went to a party, that was sure fire. Her sister surely knew that no-one in the school actually liked Gwen and she didn't really like any of them, they were all vultures. They all just circled looking for prey and she was just a down right easy target.
She looked at Megan and shook her head stammering the words "A party ... that means people ... they'll hurt me and ... pull pranks and try and ... abuse me and I don't want to go to a party with those ... vultures." she then mulled over the rest of her sister's speech. Megan was convinced Gwen would be writing about the modern world, she wasn't going to be. She was writing a dark romance, as usual. That was always what she wrote. Set in a realm she made for herself not this place, this reality.
Gwen shook her head again before Megan could insist and she hugged her knees on the seat whispering "I never want to go through that in school, let alone outside of school Megan. Just because you 'fit' in doesn't mean they won't try and get one up on me, AGAIN!" she glared at her sister for a moment then her expression softened and she sighed before continuing "Look Megan it's ... a nice idea but it won't work, they hate me unless they are bullying me then they think I am amazing fun at my expense, I have already lost my life's work to them ... I don't want to lose what little pride I have left and being bullied outside of school would just put the cherry on the icing for them and collapse my little pride."
She sat back in the seat as she finally began to warm back up but she still felt frozen inside, she was getting chronic pains in her body regularly of late and that scared her but she was booked in at the doctors tomorrow morning to get check out, even there she felt out of place as people stared at her, the bedraggled girl staring at her feet everywhere she went. Her sister had the confidence born from integrating using men and lies. She didn't understand her sister at all anymore, once she had understood her and her brother James but now James was gone and Megan was different. She looked over at her sister sympathetically, perhaps her sister was worse off, Megan had to keep up the facade just to stay out of the situation Gwen was in, this perpetual cycle of pain and loss. Her father would of given her some advice on how to get Megan to be herself around everyone but their father had no idea and nor was he there ate that moment, much to Gwen's regret.
She hated her two male family members being out fighting, it left a huge rift in the family that Carla just couldn't fill. Gwen loved Carla to pieces but she wasn't their own flesh and blood and that made her an outsider, someone they loved but couldn't love the same way, Gwen hated her mother but still she had the natural reaction to the mention of her mother negatively, she became defensive like anybody else. She looked around the interior of the car, she loved this old thing. It was a remnant of her father being around, given to Megan who was older than Gwen. It hadn't been all that long ago their father gave it to Megan, 2 months ago which meant her dad still had 4 months of service, it was her dad's old car that now belonged to another beloved obviously, her sister.
Gwen sighed, with an incomplete family, a broken heart and a broken spirit she was useless. She had once been in love with one of the more popular kids, not because of sexual desire but because of his personality, or what she thought he was like. It was him when Gwen told him about Megan and her mother that spread it around. Of course Gwen was the center of the rumor so Megan survived it pretty unscathed but Gwen had never been particularly popular and so had taken the brunt of the trash talking to start with, then other girls beating her up then the football team egging their house and if they could egging Gwen and then they went up to chicken feathers and industrial superglue and finally every male jock in the school treating Gwen as a free for all buffet to bully, grope and torture. They did virtually anything they wanted to when Megan wasn't around protecting Gwen all because Gwen would take it and not respond. That, Gwen reflected, was probably the reason Megan also came out of it well, Megan was more practical then Gwen, willing to fight back. That Gwen supposed was probably her main weakness.
Today had just happened because Sebastien, the forward on the football team and vice captain had been bored and so he had picked out Gwen who he had once treated kindly and indifferently as his target. now everyone treated Gwen like a punch bag and she looked at her sister and spoke again after nearly ten minutes, whispering timidly "I am just their punch bag, that is all. They grope me ... they torture me and all because I won't defend myself and you can't spend your entire school life defending me Megan, going to a party would just give them a much better excuse where there are no teachers to ... try and administer some form of justice." then she thought back to how she had been a few weeks ago, in pain from her period as several jocks blasted her with a pressure washer full of paint, her and Mr chalk, the fat maths teacher. Even he didn't like her and no-one liked him, he was a push over trying to be a shark.
Gwen looked at her sister, she was about to admit something that scared the life out of Gwen and it showed in the red heads eyes. She looked at Megan and whispered with true fear in her voice "I ... Sebastien he ... he threatened me when ... when they were blasting me with the pressure washer, he said ... he'd make me bleed worse than my period did and that he'd ... he'd take my ... my cherry and give me nothing but pain back for it... He said that if I told anyone he'd take another kind of cherry without .... any remorse and ... he'd make me scream." she hated to admit to that. If Megan even insinuated she knew then Sebastien would take Gwen away and do things to her, rape her. Beat her. He was the sort of guy capable of it and that was what scared her the most, that if he was interested in her that was and he was willing to do that who else would he do it to? Megan? Gwen knew her sister couldn't over power him, he was huge, he weighed over 250 pounds at 5 foot 4 inches, he was a monster of a boy. Gwen knew the only thing she could do then was offer herself up to him and she would if he went after her sister or anyone her sister actually liked, except Gwen of course. She wouldn't have a choice if he went for her. She couldn't let her sister try and defend her from him so she spoke softly saying "Promise me ... p-promise me you won't confront him because ... he also said if I told anyone, like you. He'd ... rape you and beat you to death and .. I really think he would, he is nuts Megan please just .. don't confront him or talk about it ... I don't want you to her hurt for me, mum has already caused us enough pain, no-one else should ever cause you pain again." then she looked down, she knew Megan probably thought Gwen was for once being brave but she wasn't. If he raped her it would break Gwen's heart into thousands of pieces and if she lost her sister she would not be long for this world, that she had decided and if he wanted one of them it would be Gwen, she could recover from it. She was sure, it's not like she believed that she would ever find a man who would love her, she was a coward and she was naive. Gwen hated herself then for burdening Megan with the news about Sebastien's threat...

Megan was stunned. she didn't know what to say. this was even bigger and more dangerous than she'd though. her food came down on the break hard, and the car stopped. the rode was deserted, so it was fine. she leaned her forehead against the steering wheel and breathed hard. she was angry, and sad, and maybe even a tad scared. not for herself, but for her sister. and she was so,so tired of being the clue that kept it all together. she had to be strong now that their dad was gone, but she felt like she was worn out. she'd lost the eagerness to fight and was running on her last bit of sanity.
"well..." she kept her voice strong as she spoke, "No one are going to help us, Gwen, so what do you suggest I do? lock us both in some dark room and hope that that's enough for him?" she had to do something. the school couldn't care less, her dad was far away, and Carla was just a mere woman in this situation. she wished she had a strong male in her life, within touching distance. it was stupid, because she hardly cared about love, and she'd never believed that a woman needed a man to protect her. she just wanted someone to stroke her hair and whisper pretty, simple words to her, so that she could be strong. so that she could be protected, and being taken care of, rather than her taking care of everyone else.
"You know me, sis." she looked at Gwen, pleading. "I have to talk to him. sooner or later he'll go batshit crazy, and I can't have that. not to you. I'll figure something out. I'll get someone to help me. don't worry, I'll be safe." she reached for her sisters hand and squeezed it. she didn't know if she was speaking the truth, because honestly, she didn't have anyone to help her. "and so will you. promise." she started the car again and drove home while keeping a straight face. she knew this was only the beginning of something potentially dangerous, but she didn't really care. as long as no one she loved got hurt.

Gwen almost swore for the first time in her life when her sister shocked her by slamming the brakes and so she looked at her sister with confusion in her eyes but beneath the surface her mind was reeling, she would now ever tell her sister about Sebastien having raped her twice already. She suspected Megan knew about the first but the second, she had been at gun point. Not a hunting rifle but a desert eagle with a sound suppressor. No-one would of heard the shot or cared if gwen died. She knew that better than anyone, no-one cared but her family.
When Megan took her hand Gwen's eyes widened and she shouted her sister down for the first time ever "NO! NO DO NOT CONFRONT HIM! please he'll ... he ... I ... NO just leave it Megan, please. I can;t ... I won't .... alright he .... he has raped me before he .... you probably know the story from dad but ... at first he held a ... a gun to me and he actually almost pulled ... he ... no ... please ... just not ever, no confronting him Megan, PLEASE!" she meant every word, she hadn't registered she had just told her sister that she had been raped already, thank god she didn't tell Megan about both times. That would of made Megan more determined.

She didn’t know what to say. She felt her sister’s pain. They never really talked about what Sebastian had done to Gwen. It was a dark place she didn’t want to go to. Megan had been close to being raped herself a couple of times (with her fooling around. For some reason guys didn’t like waiting around) and it had been scary as hell. Big, strong dudes with biceps the size of America and a sexual addiction could do just about anything. Except flying, cause only redbull can make you fly.
“I’m sorry, Gwen, For what you’re going through. I know he’s dangerous, but he’s gonna do it to other girls, and probably has already.” She came to think about that guy, Damon. Or Max, a boy at the wrestler team Megan happened to know. Actually, she knew lots of guys that might beat Sebastian in a fight, if it came down to it. The thing was that she didn’t want to talk to those boys, cause everyone wanted something back. Something she would not give them. And that’s how you end up in a potential rape situation. Well, she would do just about anything for her sister, and when she heard that he’d actually held a gun at her, she got even more determined. Someone had to talk to him, and of course she wasn’t going to do it alone. “We know, people, Gwennie bear. Don’t be sad. Don’t be scared.” She smiled at her sister and patted her head. In truth, she just wanted to go to her room and shut the world out.

Gwen looked at her sister and reached out before placing her hand on her sister's knee reassuringly. She shook her head and whispered "So help me if you get anyone to confront him, I will personally haunt you when he decides I am too much of a risk! I will not let you go in and get yourself hurt and raped. I know you are still a virgin, I am not stupid and it will stay that way Megan, I can handle Sebastien ... he doesn't know any better, his father taught him if you love a person take their virginity and as much sex as you like .. did you know that?... he is not bad ... really ..."

Megan stared at Gwen, goggled eyed, “Sebastian loves you? Really?" she said mockingly. "And how can you defend him! I don’t care what his father taught him. He ought to have a mind of his own! And this isn’t just about what he did to you, Gwen. Do you think some other girl he raped would sit here and say the same thing as you? No, she wouldn’t, and since you won’t fight back, I will do it for you.” she was shouting now. She wouldn’t back down, and every time Gwen opened her mouth she only made it worse. She stopped in the driveway and slammed the door as she got out. “You’re hanging out with me at school tomorrow.” Was the last thing she said, her voice monotone, before she ran up the stairs and slammed her bedroom door shut behind her. She only came out for dinner, but other than that she stayed in her room the whole day, before she snuck out at night.

Gwendolyn looked at her sister and began shaking, anger and hurt roiling inside of her as she hissed "I don't know how I can defend him I just ... it's not ... I don't know! I REALLY DON'T KNOW DAMN IT MEGAN!" she sat in the car as her sister stormed off, the door open. Tears flowed down her cheeks in a flood of pain and hurt. She sat there through dinner, just sat there and when her sister snuck out she spotted it. By that time she had stopped crying and she climbed out of the car. Glaring at her sister she spoke softly "Where do you think you are going Megan? I hope you are not sneaking off to play your little games to have Carla wake up and worry until you come back half way through the day!"

she looked at her sister who still sat in the car. “you don’t know anything, Gwen.” She snapped at her. Gwen had no right to judge Megan about her life when she, herself, was afraid of living. She didn’t know anything about Megan’s problems, because she never saw them. She was too hung up in all the bullying, that she didn’t realize how hard it was for Megan not to be bullied. “Why don’t you try a day in the real world and then talk?” She stormed over and got in the driver’s seat. She was on her way to the beach where a few people from school were having a bonfire. She was not planning on drinking anything with alcohol in it, so she figured it was okay to take the car. Besides, she hated having a hangover on schooldays. “Get out, Gwen.” She said and started the engine. “I mean it.”

Gwen waited for Megan to climb into the car and then she gently touched her sisters hand, ignoring her orders and biting her lip. She shook her head whispering "No I am not getting out, we both ... we have to face our problems and ... I'm scared Megan, really scared. We ... we should talk to ... the police. Not confront him just, please... no more pretending you are someone you are not." she felt a tear slide down her cheek and she looked at Megan before mumbling "Mum ... she was bullied for years and then she ... she began pretending like you, but she pretended with more than alcohol and her virginity .... please?"
